Finishing off the previews of the Atlantic 10’s incoming freshmen with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
Bona made their first trip to the NCAA tournament in more than a decade. Mark Schmidt and the Bonnies finished 10-6 in the A-10 and 20-12 overall. The Orlando Magic chose Andrew Nicholson in the first round of the NBA draft. Da’Quan Cook signed a contract to play in Bulgaria. Schmidt and his staff welcome two freshmen to Olean: Dion Wright and Jean Yves-Toupane.
Dion Wright 6’7” 205lbs. G/F Lakewood, Cal./Mayfair
A versatile athlete who will help the Bonnies with his skill in the post and on the perimeter … will have four years of eligibility beginning in the 2012-13 season … Averaged 19.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as a senior … led Mayfair High School to a 27-6 record and a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Division 2A championship … named the CIF Southern Section Division II Player of the Year … Mayfair concluded year ranked No. 19 in the state … coached by Tony Davis.
Jean Yves-Toupane 6’7” 185lbs. G/F Dakar, Senegal/ Lee Academy
A long, athletic scoring wing who will look to make an immediate impact as a freshman … will have four years of eligibility beginning in the 2012-13 season …Regarded as on the top 100 prospects in the nation at his position (small forward) by ESPN Recruiting … listed as one of the top five recruits in Maine and one of the 25 players in the New England Region … was a teammate of fellow Senegal native and current Bona sophomore Youssou Ndoye.

After redshirting for a season, Matthias Runs will also join the Bonas.
