EDISON, N.J. – The Marist men’s basketball was represented with a pair of players on the Preseason All-MAAC teams in the league’s announcement on Thursday as sophomore Chavaughn Lewis (Queens, N.Y.) and senior Devin Price (Inglewood, Calif.) were named.

Lewis, was chosen by the conference’s coaches to the Second Team, while Price is recognized on the Third Team.

Lewis, Marist’s all-time Division 1 leading freshman scorer with 460 points, was a 2011-12 MAAC All-Rookie Team honoree. An explosive scorer, Lewis netted double digit point totals in 27 of his 32 games as a freshman and in each of last 20. Beginning the year as the Red Foxes’ instant offense, sixth man, Lewis was inserted into the starting at Manhattan on Feb. 2 and his and the team’s play flourished even more. Individually, his scoring average jumped from 13.0 to 17.1, rebounds from 4.1 to 5.7 and field goal percentage from 38.6 percent to 49.6 in the final 11 games. As a team, the Red Foxes posted a 7-4 record once Lewis was added to the starting lineup. For the year in 30 contests, Lewis averaged 14.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals a game, while shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 32.9 from three point range and 64.4 from the foul line.

Price, a senior, blossomed as a scorer in his first full year playing as a shooting guard and was rewarded with a spot on the 2011-12 All-MAAC Third Team. 13 times as a junior, he scored 15 or more points, including seven games of 20 or more. For the year in 32 contests, he averaged 13.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.9 three pointers made and 1.1 steals a game, while shooting 38.9 percent from the field, 35.3 from three point range and 80.0 from the foul line. A starter in all 32 contests, Price played a team-high 33.9 minutes per game.
