The Adirondack Trail Blazers beat the Utica Brewers 4-1, Friday night in front of a big crowd at the Robert S. Smith Sports Complex in Rome. Eric Baker(Rogers St.) led the offense going 3 for 5, which included a big two out 2 run single in the bottom of the eighth. James Anderson(Harding U.) chipped in with a single and 2 runs scored, Colton Campbell(Rogers St.) added an RBI single and Dezmon Nunn(Three Rivers CC) also had an RBI for the victors.
The Trail Blazers also had strong pitching outings from starter, Dylan Griswold(Williams College) throwing 4 2/3 innings allowing no runs on 2 hits, 7 walks and 3 strikeouts. After Griswold’s pitch count was getting up there, he was relieved by John Clark(Georgia College). Clark picked up the win going 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing 2 hits no walks while striking out 3. Ryan Krokos(Youngstown St.) picked up his first save of the season by pitching two solid innings of 1 hit ball and allowing an unearned run.
The Trail Blazers(3-1) are home once again tonight(Sat.) to take on the Sherrill Silversmiths. Tonight is “Thunderstick Night.” The first 100 kids at the park receive free thundersticks. Game time is 7pm.
