Former Saint Louis men’s basketball standout and Perth Wildcats star Kevin Lisch was named the Australian National Basketball League’s Most Valuable Player. The Andrew Gaze Trophy-recipient starred for the Billikens from 2005-08.
Lisch took home the hardware after averaging 17.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg and 2.8 apg over the regular season for the Wildcats in Australia. Lisch shot 45.3 percent from the field and drained 41 percent of his three-point attempts. He was a solid performer from the charity stripe as well, converting 81 percent of his free throw opportunities. His production also landed him on the All-NBL First Team List.
Over his three-year professional career, Lisch has steadily improved and quickly established himself to be a force for the perennial powerhouse Wildcats. As a rookie, the Bellville, Ill., native commanded his squad to the club’s fifth championship and claimed the Larry Sengstock Medal as the Grand Final MVP. In is sophomore campaign, Lisch posted solid numbers again en route to being the team’s co-MVP.
Lisch now turns his attention to this weekend’s NBL semifinals. Tipoff is set for this Sunday, as the Perth Wildcats begin their quest to secure their sixth championship against the Gold Coast Blaze.
