LSU reigns supreme off yet another impressive victory. With conference championships matching many ranked teams against one another, we experienced quite a shift from last week’s Top 15. Houston and Virginia Tech were the most notable fallers, while Oklahoma State’s domination of the Sooners swayed just enough polls to edge Alabama as the second best team in our poll. There seems to be three tiers in our poll: the top three, the next three, and everybody else. We’ll have a Alabama/LSU rematch in all likeliness, how do you feel about this? Are they the nation’s top two teams? Even if they are, how do you view the idea of a rematch? On an individual note, who do you have for the Heisman?
Teams | Points |
LSU (5) | 75 |
Oklahoma State | 67 |
Alabama | 66 |
Stanford | 57 |
Oregon | 54 |
Boise State | 51 |
Wisconsin | 39 |
Arkansas | 28 |
USC | 28 |
Georgia | 24 |
South Carolina | 22 |
Viriginia Tech | 16 |
Houston | 14 |
Baylor | 12 |
Clemson | 10 |

The Pine has spoken! Give us the championship we want! This national championship rematch is a blow to the BCS supporters in a way. John Saunders says every other week on Sports Reporters that he loves the BCS because every “regular season game is like a playoff game.” Ok, I kind of agree with him. But if that’s the case, then Alabama had its shot at top dog. Time to give other guy a chance.

Oh yeah – Kyle, who is the sixteenth team? Are we still doing a Picking Splinters playoff??? I loved it last time.

How is Trent Richardson getting so much pull for Heisman? I figured he’s having a great year, but has it been that dominant? I’d give me Heisman to RG3, though I know that’s what the masses say. I’d like to point out that I had him #2 as early as week 1 (I think) behind Russell Wilson. I think the best playmaker should get it, and a lot of times that falls to a quarterback who can create

Rey – I agree with you. Give us the LSU/ Oklahoma State championship game we have voted for. Is it too late to start a petition?
If every game is a like a playoff game, then a conference championship game and the lack of a conference championship game (Alabama) should have a major impact. I guess it almost did in that Oklahoma State really closed the gap in the BCS standings. But I truly hope that not playing in a conference championship game carries a lot of weight. Or this could end up happening every year with Alabama and LSU in the same SEC division.

To correct a previous oversight on my part – there will be 21 basketball games played on the same night as the national championship including Humpty Hitchens and James Madison hosting Hampton.
Had it in my mind that college hoops took that night off.

I forgot to send in my poll this week, and if I would have, Bama/OK State would have tied for our poll because I am one of the few who has Bama ahead of the Pokes. I am not as convinced about Alabama being more deserving than OK State but I put tons of weight on the quality of the loss Bama had compared to OK State’s. Certainly not saying any of you who voted OK State 2nd are wrong, just that my opinion is the Tide belong in the second spot..
As for the Heisman, my top five looks like this: 1. RGIII, 2. Honey Badger, 3. Richardson, 4. Kellen Moore, 5. Barkley, 6. Ball, 7. Luck
I think Luck is in there based on preseason hype and not on actual season results. RGIII and Moore both had better completion percentages, TD:INT ratios and passing yards. Maybe I’m being too harsh on Luck, but If someone outside of that too three wins, I’ll be very disappointed.
