DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton women’s basketball coach Jim Jabir has finalized the Flyers’ 2012-13 recruiting class. French national player Jodie Cornelie signed with the Flyers on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
The 6-foot-4 center helped France to a runner-up finish at the 2010 FIBA U-17 World Championships this summer, starting every game and averaging 4.9 ppg and 4.5 rpg. In the championship final against the United States, she had four points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists.
In addition to putting up 6.9 ppg and 6.6 rpg, she averaged nearly a block a game (.9) at the 2009 FIBA U-16 European Championship, helping France to a bronze medal.
She was one of 10 players in her age group in the country chosen to play for the Centre Federal Du Basket-Ball (CFBB) the same organization in which NBA player Tony Parker was developed. Cornelie, of Strasbourg, France, has trained with the CFBB since she was 14.
She joins UD’s heralded list of 2012-13 signees: Kelley Austria (Beavercreek, Ohio), Morgan Berry (Brooklyn, Mich.), Lexi Carpenter (Woodbridge, Va.), and Bre Elder (Lebanon, Ky.)
