The countdown to tipoff is on, and Pickin’ Splinters has what A-10 basketball fans need to know about this year’s incoming class.
Today we cast our eyes upon the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
After falling 75-73 in double overtime to La Salle in A-10’s first round round, the Bonnies accepted a bid to the CBI Tournament. Central Florida ousted the Brown and White after 40 minutes of play.
Ogo Adegboye graduated. Mark Schmidt and his staff have added five recruits to the mix: freshmen Jordan Gathers and Youssou Ndoye along with transfers Chris Johnson, Charlon Kloof and Eric Mosley.
Jordan Gathers 6’3″ 200lbs. G Los Angeles, CA — William Howard Taft
Rated at an 85 overall by ESPNU College Basketball Recruiting and ranked among the top 120 combo guards in his class … attended a year of prep school at Rise Academy in Philadelphia, where he averaged 19 points, four rebounds and 2.8 steals per game in his only season … spent his senior year at William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Calif., where he helped guide Taft to a 26-6 overall record … as a junior at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, he posted season averages of 10.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game in 2008-09 in leading the team to a 26-7 overall mark…Has a 6-7 wingspan (79″) … Nephew of Loyola Marymount star Hank Gathers (“Guru of Go” – ESPN 30 for 30).

Youssou Ndoye 6’11 235lbs. C Dakar, Sengal — Lee Academy
Rated at a 78 overall and among the top 85 centers in his class by ESPNU College Basketball Recruiting … played two seasons at Lee Academy in Maine, the last of which was a prep year … averaged seven points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game in helping the Pandas to a 27-1 record that included 23 consecutive wins…Has a 7-2 wingspan (86″) … member of the Sports for Education and Economic Development (SEEDS) program in his native Senegal that helped guide him to the United States … the academy provides educational opportunities for youth, creating social awareness and encouraging economic development through the vehicle of sports.
Chris Johnson 6’5″ 205lbs. G/F North Preston, Nova Scotia — Kilgore College
Played two seasons (2008-09, 2009-10) at Kilgore College (Texas) … saw action in 11 games for Kilgore in his final season, despite a left foot injury that forced him to miss time … averaged 18.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Kilgore, while shooting 52 percent (74-of-143) from the floor … committed to Liberty University in April 2010 before choosing to focus on academics for a year…Member of the 2007 Canadian Junior National team.
Charlon Kloof 6’3″ 195lbs. G Paramaribo, Suriname — Canarias Basketball Academy
Spent the season at CBA in Spain’s Canary Islands …competed in stateside tournaments at Seton Hall and Rhode Island in addition to international play … named among three standout players at the National Prep School Invitational by ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein … other two players committed to Duke and Syracuse …given Most Valuable Player honors in two of the four games he played in … played alongside Haralds Karlis (Seton Hall), Johan Van Zegeren (Virginia Tech), Thomas Van der Mars (Portland) and Kadeem Pantophlet (Duquesne).
At Guilford Technical Community College (2009-10)
Used a year of eligibility at the North Carolina school … posted season averages of 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor in 24 games for the Titans [stats]…Member of the 2009 and 2010 Netherlands U20 national teams that competed in the FIBA European Championships …converted the game-winning layup that lifted Netherlands to a one-point victory over Sweden in the B-Division semfinals, elevating the Dutch team into the A Division…
Eric Mosley 5’10” 170lbs. G Louisville, KY — Moore Traditional School
Played one season at Cincinnati State and Technical Community College (2010-11) after one season at Austin Peay State University (2009-10) … averaged 23.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 78 percent from the line and 40 percent from 3-point range at Cincinnati State … played in 20 games at Austin Peay in 2009-10, were he posted 2.5 points in 5.6 minutes of work per game….Played guard for Larry Miller at Moore Traditional School as a senior after playing in Richmond (Ind.) previously … averaged 26.4 ppg to rank third in state scoring … shot almost 50 percent from the floor, including 35 percent from 3-point range in helping Moore to 23-8 record as one of state’s most improved teams … scored 40 or more points multiple times, including a 47-point performance when he took just 22 shots … helped lead Moore to District title but was injured during regional contest … named Second-Team All-State by both Louisville Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader … ranked as the fourth best prep prospect in Kentucky by High Potential Recruiting Service.
