WINDSOR, Ont. – Sophomore Mike McCall and junior Kwamain Mitchell led five Billikens in double figures with 16 points apiece as Saint Louis topped the University of Windsor 98-57 Monday night in a men’s basketball exhibition game at the St. Denis Centre. It was the first of five games for the Billikens on their Canadian exhibition tour.

Jordair Jett and Brian Conklin notched 12 points apiece, while Cody Ellis poured in 10. Mitchell was 6-of-10 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from long range, while McCall hit seven of his nine shots and both of his chances from 3-point range.

Jett dished out seven assists and committed just two turnovers, while Mitchell had six assists and one turnover. Mitchell, Dwayne Evans, Rob Loe, McCall and Jake Barnett all had two assists. Evans led the squad with six rebounds.

As a team, the Billikens shot 60 percent from the floor (36-60) and 3-point range (9-15).

SLU continues its exhibition slate Tuesday, Aug. 23, with a game against the University of Western Ontario. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. (CT).

The Billikens took control of the game midway through the second half with three straight buckets from McCall (two) and Mitchell to put SLU on top 19-8. A John Manning jumper and Barnett trey at the 8:39 mark stretched the SLU advantage to 24-12.

A one-handed jam by Cory Remekun gave the Billikens a 10-point lead at 26-16, and the Bills did not lose that double-digit margin the rest of the way.

Jett sent the Billikens into the locker room leading 50-31 with a runner as time expired.

Mitchell and Conklin combined for the first nine points of the second half as the Billikens continued their hot shooting. A Mitchell trey with 5:32 to go put the Billikens up by 30 at 83-53. The lead reached 40 late in the game when Barnett hit a free throw in the final minute.

Windsor was led by Josh Collins’ 14 points.
