ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Youssou Ndoye (YOU-sue en-DOY-yay) has signed an athletics grant-in-aid to join the men’s basketball program in the fall, head coach Mark Schmidt announced on Tuesday.
Ndoye, a 6-foot-9 230-pound forward/center from Dakar, Senegal, played two seasons at Lee Academy in Maine. He averaged seven points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game this year in helping the Pandas to a 27-1 record that included 23 consecutive wins.
Ndoye will have four years of eligibility with the Bonnies and is rated at a 78 overall and among the top 85 centers in his class by ESPNU College Basketball Recruiting.
He was a member of the Sports for Education and Economic Development (SEEDS) program in the Senegal that helped guide him to the United States. The academy provides educational opportunities for youth, creating social awareness and encouraging economic development through the vehicle of sports.
