Greenwood served as an official for 27 years while officiating the Final Four in 2005.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference and Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade announced the hiring of Reggie Greenwood as the league’s Coordinator of Officials for men’s basketball. Greenwood replaces Jim Satalin, who retired from the position this past season after serving in the role for nine years.
Greenwood will be responsible for the Atlantic 10’s men’s basketball officiating program including training, developing and recruiting for the conference roster. He will oversee all of the A-10’s officiating assignments for both non-conference and conference play as well as be responsible for all regular season and post-season evaluations.
“We are extremely excited to have Reggie join the A-10 family,” stated Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “His experience as both a supervisor and an NCAA and A-10 official has earned him an outstanding reputation nationally.”
Greenwood will continue serving in the same role for both the Patriot League and Ivy League, two conferences he has worked for over the last three years. He was also selected to observe and evaluate officials during the 2010 NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds in New Orleans La., as well as at the 2011 NCAA Tournament Second and Third Rounds in Chicago, Ill.
Greenwood brings 27 years of officiating experience to the A-10, with a majority of those seasons working at the NCAA Division I level. He officiated for nine Division I conferences, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East, Big Ten, Ivy League and Patriot League, in addition to the Atlantic 10.
Greenwood also had extensive experience working NCAA and conference championships. He officiated the Final Four in 2005, worked in the Sweet 16 or Elite Eight eight times over a 12-year span and served as an official in the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Tournament 12 years in a row. His conference tournament resume included 12 consecutive seasons officiating in the Atlantic 10 Tournament including eight consecutive seasons of working in the semifinals or the championship game. Greenwood also worked the Big East Tournament every year from 1999-2009, while working the Patriot League Tournament for 12 straight seasons including the League Championship game in 2004 and 2005.
“It is indeed an honor to be selected as the Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officials for the Atlantic 10 Conference,” said Greenwood. “This opportunity will allow me to extend the knowledge and experiences that I have gained over the years, to our group of officials, and help them become the very best that they can be.”
Prior to becoming an official, Greenwood worked in the United States Department of Labor since 1987. He also worked four years as an Air Traffic Controller for The FAA at Dulles Airport and six years in The Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller and Fuels Specialist. Greenwood retired from the Federal Government in 2009 after 32 years of outstanding service.

Greenwood has been one of the worst and most inconsistent NCAA officials in recent memory. This is a POOR decision by the A10. Satalin was awful as A10 Coordinator of Officials as many officiating blunders went unpunished under Satalin’s watch.
Greenwood will continue the awful tradition that has brought the A10 the WORST officials on the East Coast including Frank Scagliotta, Paul Faia, Joe DeMayo, Ron Tyburski, John Hughes, Ray Perone and Wally Rutecki.

I love it when people come to the site, make one negative comment, and then never return again. What, seriously, is the point? Somehow I’m guessing BFlint doesn’t have a high opinion of officials in general.

Chas, you’ve obviously never seen the confusion of a Reggie Greenwood officiated game.
I was at a Palestra game sitting right behind the bench. The coach barks out a signal for his guard to run and the next thing you see is Greenwood slapping Billy Hahn of La Salle with a T. I was a neutral observer of the game and I stood up and was yelling at the official, Greenwood, for the worst call I’d ever witnessed at any level!!!!!!
