A spot in the West Regional final is on the line in Anaheim when the Big East and Mountain West collide.
UConn has a record of 46-27 in 30 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Huskies have won two NCAA National Championships, in 2004 and 1999, and the Huskies also advanced to their third NCAA Final Four in 2009. UConn has reached the NCAA Elite Eight nine times and the Sweet Sixteen 16 times in school history. UConn is 42-13 in the NCAA Tournament in 17 appearances under Jim Calhoun and were 4-14 in 13 appearances in the tourney prior to Calhoun’s arrival in Storrs.
After going 15,713 days without an NCAA Tournament victory, San Diego State picked up its second win in the 2011
tournament in approximately 50 hours with a 71‐64 double overtime victory over seventh‐seeded Temple. The Aztecs
enjoyed a 42‐35 rebound advantage and SDSU once again had a stellar defensive performance. For the 23rd time this season, San Diego State held an opponent to 40‐percent‐or‐less shooting from the field, limiting the Owls to 37.9 percent.

I say…Go San Diego…nice to see a different face on the block
Smitty says
About to find out how deep SDSU’s bench is. 2 players with 2 fouls with 12 minutes to go. Coach Fisher is going to need his bench to keep the Aztecs in this first half.
Casey says
This is the hardest I have seen Walker work without the ball all season.
Smitty says
This is a much more energetic Aztecs team this half. Was it first half nerves or something Coach Fisher said??
redsoxfan says
Things are looking up for SDS:)
Smitty says
Both games are coming down to the wire.. I need another TV!!
Smitty says
D.J. Gay is coming up big for the Aztecs!!
Smitty says
Now is Jeremy Lamb for the Huskies!!
Casey says
Of all players, I would not expect DJ Gay to commit that turnover.
Smitty says
He telegraphed the whole way.. Great play by Lamb though.
The Huskies move on..
Casey says
Kenny Smith just made a great observation: SDSU’s 3 losses were all the same. They lost to BYU twice when Jimmer scored over 40. Tonight Kemba killed them from the perimeter.
Smitty says
And you would think that a team that athletic , wouldn’t have such a hard time beating a team that gets most of its scoring from one player.
Is that a lack of coaching or a just a major weakness with the Aztecs?
Casey says
Maybe collectively very athletic, but lacking that singular athlete.
