Parsons gets an Oscar
As selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, Florida’s Chandler Parsons is the most recent recipient of the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week award.
Parsons averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals as the Gators defeated a pair of ranked conference rivals in No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 10 Kentucky.
The two wins were the first back-to-back victories over ranked opponents for the Gators since 2007. Parsons registered double-doubles in both games turning in a 17-point, 12-rebound performance versus UK. Parson notched 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Commodores.
The weekly Oscar Robertson award is selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and given by the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook. For the complete release and background on the award and this year’s previous winners click here.
Reilly Rush
Here’s hoping this is a sign of things to come. The Reilly Center on the campus of St. Bonaventure in Olean, New York erupted Saturday night when Michael Davenport nailed a three with one second remaining on the clock to give the Bonnies a two-point victory over the conference-leading Duquesne Dukes. Davenport’s dagger touched off a spontaneous celebration complete with the student body rushing the court. The wild celebration left lap tops on press row shaking.
It looks like Mark Schmidt has resurrected the near-moribund Bonaventure program. After the Bonnies nearly beat Kentucky in the opening round of the 2000 NCAA tournament, the program has gone through a series of regrettable missteps. That is until now. The Bonnies start four underclassmen, and their first man off the bench is freshman, Matthew Wright.
Rolling up the sleeves
Four teams have stayed consistent throughout the 2010-2011 college basketball season. Cleveland State, James Madison, Missouri State and St. Bonaventure have used the same starting lineup for every game this season.

Good things come to those who wait
Red-shirting a senior season? Must have been because of injury right? Wrong. The University of Buffalo’s Byron Mulkey made the choice to sit out last year. Now, the UB point guard is reaping the benefit of his patience.

ND fans will like this article – well, at least most this article: https://rushthecourt.net/2011/02/09/luck-of-the-irish-hardly/#more-32878

Last night, ND spent much of the second half trying to give the game away to Louisville … missed FTs, layups and dunks … but they somehow got the game to OT and outscored Louisville 14-4 or something like that in the extra stanza. Tyrone Nash certainly does some good things, but a huge liability when shooting the ball. ND’s interior help defense was AWFUL.
But … any conference win is a good one … Lou’ville is a tough team … and now the Irish are in command with respect to notching a top 4 spot in the Big East. Things are going well, but ND better shore up some defensive weaknesses displayed in last night’s game.
