All hands on deck – that is how Seth Greenberg’s Virginia Tech Hokies live and die. The Hokies started the season winning 12 of 13 with victories over Iowa, Georgia, Penn State and Seton Hall. Unfortunately, for the Hokies those major conference teams did not fare well from there on, and the Hokies strength of schedule took the hit.

Late last season, the Hokies strung together five consecutive wins in the ACC capping it off by trimming then #25 Wake Forest. V-Tech looked prime for a spot in The Dance until a three-game swoon and a first round exit in the conference tournament doomed their hopes.

All of those hands are back, and VT is ready for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Despite playing in the high-scoring ACC, the Hokies were in the top twenty of team defense.  They get out on the perimeter, and make opponents uncomfortable.

Malcolm Delaney holds together the Hokie attack. He led the Hokies in field goals made and attempted, free throws made and attempted and 3-point field goals made and attempted. At the same time, Delaney dished out at least twice as many assists as any other in burgundy.

Four different Hokies averaged four or more rebounds per game. They are active on the glass and require opponents to expend plenty of energy.

Jeff Allen (6’7″) and Terrell Bell (6’7″) get the job done in the paint.

Freshmen, Erik Sorenson, Tyrone Garland and Jarrell Eddie will compete for playing time.
