Texas handles Alabama rather easily, 31-14.
USC holds down Texas Tech’s high-powered offense, 28-16.
Penn State shocks the Sooners, 27-24.

Florida over Ohio State 24 -14. It’s tied early in the 4th, but Gators put it away with 10 unanswered points … much like their win over Bama.

Texas beats Alabama 31-17. Really not close … Longhorns up 2 scores since 1st quarter.

So Cal just nips Texas Tech 27-24 on a field goal with 45 seconds left. TT offense a little more baffling than the poodle thought going in.

It’s a lot closer than the oddsmakers thought, but Oklahoma barely squeaks by Penn State 31-27. Nittany Lions have 4 chances from the Sooner 25 yard line to score a TD, but come up short at end of 4th qtr.

I forget you want commentary to back the pix.

G9: FL proves to be too much for OSU. Tim Tebow shows that if winning and leadership were the criteria for Heisman, he should have been it. He runs for 2 scores and passes for 2 more and urges FL defense to a shutout. Final 31-0.

G10: Colt McCoy almost pulls it out, but Nick Saban has his troops ready so that they can rematch against FL. Final: AL 27, TX 24.

G11: Graham Harrell on a mission to prove he should have been at least invited to Downtown Athletic Club. He gets just enough points to complement a brilliant defensive effort. Major upset, but my favorite game! TT 14, USC 10.

G12: PSU playing on a high with Joe Pa coming back for 3 more years, and vastly overrated OK can’t quite figure out the PSU defense in time. PSU mounts an early charge and OK late rally falls short in this shootout. PSU 55, OK 42!

    Gators 34 Buckeyes 10
Florida takes the opening kick off and drives 78 yards in 5+ minutes. Tebow scores on a quarterback draw. On the ensuing drive Ohio State goes three and out and plays the remainder of the game like their hearts have been ripped from them. OSU’s only touchdown comes in the final minutes of the game.

    ‘Bama 24 Texas 12
Nick Saban proves he is a master as his defensive scheme keeps the Horns out of the end zone.

    USC 17 TT 6
In a surprising defensive struggle the Trojans prove their worth, and Graham Harrell comes to the end of his road.

    PSU 27 Oklahoma 13
Call it the Heisman Hangover – the Nittany Lions shake off the cobwebs from the first round and triumph. PSU converts three interceptions into 13 points. Meanwhile the Sooners can only manage 3 points in the first half againts a spirited defensive performance by the Nittany Lions.

Y’all overrating USC and underrating TT, but that’s why we “play” the games, heh?

Pete – why you may say that we are overrating USC – I think you are giving TT’s defense way too much credit. OKalhoma put up 100 points on them.. okay, maybe not 100.

    Gators 42 Buckeyes 7
    – Tim Tebow is audtioning for the NFL draft and doesn’t disappoint. Terrelle Pryor shows that while he will be good in a couple of years – as a freshman, he struggles in the spotlight.

    Texas 27 Alabama 24
    – A close one that Colt McCoy makes a statement as he leads the Longhorns on a game winning drive in the 4th.

    USC 35 Texas Tech 21
    – USC’s defense dominates early. Harrell tries a late comeback – but only after USC’s 2nd string defense is in. USC holds TT to 15 yards on the ground – for the game.

    Oklahoma 31 Penn State 30
    – Bradford breaks Paterno’s heart by throwing for a TD with .03 left in the game.
