Who am I?

October 29, 2008 by Paul Gotham 13 Comments

Addison and North Sheffield – I know ’em well. I spent fifteen summers there. Seven years in a row I received MVP votes – but never finished higher than fourth. On defense I earned five Gold Gloves. On offense I did a little of everything – led the NL in OBP twice, walks – four times, sac flies for three years, and times on base – three seasons. I batted over .300 on three occasions and finished my career hitting .277 with 342 round trippers, and 1,331 RBI. I played in eight All-Star games – starting in four of those midsummer classics.

Holy crap he is serious – that took all of one minute!

    Score one for the king!

OK … I swear to God I was on when this was posted … but it got here 10 minutes later than everyone else saw it. And it was a Cubs question, too! Damn … even electronically it takes things way longer to get to Alaska.

Oh … and since we’re on the subject of Ron Santo, let’s see some votes either supporting or denying his admission to the Hall of Fame (a sore subject among Chitown baseball fans). Y’all know how I feel.

I thought you were on holiday? 🙂

Now I’m off to win a playoff game for Smitty’s former softball team. 🙂

Softball? Tonight? You are in Boston right? Is it indoors?

Rey – sorry to keep creeping you out.

    Casey,
Indeed I am on “WAI Sabbatical”, but that Santo Q would’ve been some low hanging fruit I could just grab as I’m walking by.

    Chas – Good luck buddy..

That means only one thing – Stifler’s Mom is playing for the fall league softball title…

    Nice..

I think we need to have Chas tested.. Or get him a girlfriend. He spends way too much time in front of the computer to know that was Ron Santos so quickly.

    Casey,

I would like a review – That is Ron Santos.. Not Ron Santo. .Ron Santo never made past Class A ball Nevada..

    Judges…

If I am not mistaken, Ron Santo is the only Cub whose number has been retired but who has not been enshrined at Cooperstown! Sounds like an “in” vote for me!

I know that Santo being snubbed is a topic I have rambled on about before on The Clipboard…but Ron Santo deserves to be in the HOF…Along with Pete Rose

Uh, who’s Ron Santos? Smitty, I actually thought you might protest that I didn’t specify Kellen Winslow Sr. for my last WAI.

Playoffs just started, believe it or not, but we’re the #1 seed. Oh, and I do have a girlfriend…not that the clipboard needs to hear about my personal life. 🙂

Outdoors, Casey. I think it was the coldest weather I’ve ever played in. I needed my Jimmy Rollins earflaps.
