Webster made a charge up the standings this past week winning 4 of 6 six games – and 6 of their last 8.
The Pinstripes bounced back from losses to Allegany County and Elmira and took care of business against Niagara and Geneva
before sweeping the Pioneers to end the week.
The Miami of Ohio kids led the charge in game 1 yesterday. Kyle Weldon went 3 for 4 with an RBI while Sam Dawes earned the victory in relief. Dawes tossed four scoreless frames (8th, 9th, 10th, & 11th). Drew Hormann went 2 for 5 and scored the winning run.
John Kenny (Hofstra) went 5 for 8 yesterday with 2 walks, 3 runs scored, a stolen base, and the game-winning RBI in the opener. Kenny finished the week 13 for 26 with 4 runs scored, 1 HR and 6 RBI.
TJ Baumet (Ball State) collected 3 two-out hits for the week – all driving in runs. Of Baumet’s 20 hits on the season, 8 have come with two outs – 7 of those two-out hits drove in runs. In all TJ has 8 two-out RBI for the season.
Adam Curynski, Geoff Dornes, and Baumet will represent Webster when the league convenes in Watertown tonight for the annual all-star game. You can listen to the game here.
Webster hosts Allegany County for a doubleheader Wednesday – first pitch 3p.m. and Niagara Sunday 1p.m. The Pinstripes travel to Geneva, Thursday- 5pm., Brockport, Friday – 5p.m., and Hornell, Saturday – 4p.m.. Fans can listen to all games by going here.
Webster alums: Pat Urckfitz picked up his first professional save as the Greeneville Astros defeated Bluefield in Appalachian League action. Pat retired the only batter he faced for the save.
Bryan Gardner has made 3 appearances for the Gulf Coast Reds. He has an ERA of 4.91 with 4 Ks and 6 walks.
