Was it just a week ago
I can still remember
How those Patriots went for perfection
With publishers set to tell the tale
Big Blue seemed sure to fail
Belichik would get satisfaction
After January made us shiver
The Frozen Tundra we remember
Bad news on the doorstep
Could the Pats take one more step
We all remember how T.O. cried
When he tried to cover his QB’s hide
But no one could have even tried
To suggest perfection would die
But bye-bye to those perfect dreams
Gone awash in a storm of Spagnuolo’s schemes
With good ol’ Osi comin’ round the end
Leaving Kawika to fill the middle
Scarnecchia couldn’t solve the riddle
Do you believe in Arlen Specter
Or do you have faith in Belichik
As Bob Ryan told us so
Did you buy into Plaxico
That Big Blue would save his mortal soul
As Justin Tuck would do the dance real slow
Well I know Shockey knocked a couple back
As Strahan went for another sack
Some thing Coughlin knows
Tiki’s turn to eat some crow
Jacobs ran like a broncin’ buck
And Bradshaw waited to drive the truck
Eli showed that he could duck
The day perfection died
I started singin
bye-bye to those perfect dreams
Gone awash in a storm of Spagnuolo’s schemes
And good ol’ Osi comin’ round the end
Leaving Kawika to fill the middle
Scarnecchia couldn’t solve the riddle
Oh, and there we were all in one place
The Patriots marching without any haste
Leaving little time to start again
Come on: Wes be nimble, Wes be quick
Moss scored on a Webster slip
And Brady is Belichik’s only friend
Oh and Seymour had Eli in his grasp
Until Manning rolled right as time elapsed
Tyree and the helmet catch
Steve Smith with one last dash
And while Brady was looking down
Giselle was glancing all around
She couldn’t believe her eyes
Would a Manning get another prize
And while Peyton seemed so concerned
Bob Kraft readied himself for another turn
Eli took a knee
The day perfection died

Let me know when your redo “Starry Night”. I will try not to insist on the lyrisist cutting off his ear as the subject had done. Let’s see how old the blog crew is to recognize that song…
By the way, I’m reaching for the barf bag as I write this…
As a side note, does anyone know the story behind HBO ending “Inside The NFL” with this past show being the last? What’s up with that?

Muels,
Just read the Simmons column where he referred to the end of ‘Inside the NFL’. Believe it or not – has something to do with money. NFL Films wanted wanted too much cash for the video rights.
Yes – I was being sarcastic with the ‘believe it or not’ comment.
