#11/11 University of Dayton got one step closer to defending its title with a 74-49 win over George Washington Saturday at Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph’s in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Buick Atlantic 10 Championship.
The #12/12 University of Dayton women’s basketball earned their first-ever Atlantic 10 regular season championship on Sunday with a 73-66 win over the Saint Joseph Hawks 73-66. A national television audience watching on ESPN2 and a crowd of 5,288 at UD Arena cheered on as the Flyers became just the sixth Atlantic 10 team to finish the conference season undefeated.
#12/12 University of Dayton women’s basketball defeated Saint Louis 71-61 Thursday night at Chaifetz Arena to clinch at least a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season title. The Flyers improve to 25-1 overall and 13-0 in the Atlantic 10 with just one conference game left to play. The 25 wins ties a school record for victories in a season since UD became an NCAA Division I school in 1985-86. The Billikens drop to 11-17 overall and 5-8 in A-10 play.
Five Flyers scored in double figures as the #14/14 University of Dayton women’s basketball team defeated Temple 67-47 Sunday at UD Arena in front of 3,055 fans. Dayton improves to 24-1 overall and 12-0 in the Atlantic 10; the Flyers have already clinched a bye in the first round of the A-10 Championship. Temple falls to 12-15 overall and 5-7 in the league.
The #14/14 University of Dayton women’s basketball team held on for 67-63 win over St. Bonaventure Thursday night at the Reilly Center. Dayton improves to 23-1 overall and 11-0 in the Atlantic 10 and clinched a bye in the first round of the A-10 Championship. The Bonnies are 9-17 overall and 2-9 in the league.
The No. 14/15 Dayton women’s basketball team overcame a nine point second half deficit to defeat the Duquesne Dukes 58-57 in front of 1,509 fans at UD Arena Monday night. UD remains the only undefeated team in the Atlantic 10 as they improve to 10-0 and 22-1 overall, while Duquesne falls to 8-3 in conference and 19-6 on the season.
The nationally-ranked University of Dayton women’s basketball team hosts Duquesne Monday, Feb. 18 at UD Arena in a Red Out. Two of the top teams in the Atlantic 10 conference will square off in this CBS Sports Network nationally-televised game with John Sadak (play-by-play) and Julianne Viani (analyst) on the call. Four Flyers scored in double figures as #17/15 Dayton women’s basketball downed Richmond 72-64 Sunday at the Robins Center in an ESPNU nationally-televised game. The Flyers improve to 19-1 overall and 7-0 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond is now 12-11 overall, 2-5 A-10. The game was close down the stretch as the Flyers got into foul trouble.
Three Flyers registered double-doubles as #17/15 Dayton women’s basketball downed Atlantic 10 newcomer VCU 60-49 at the Verizon Wireless Arena Wednesday night.
The No. 17/16 University of Dayton women’s basketball team defeated the Massachusetts Minutewomen 83-44 Sunday afternoon at UD Arena. The Flyers set a new season-high record of forced turnovers by pressuring the Minutewomen into 31 for the game. Dayton remains undefeated in Atlantic 10 games and raised their record to 17-1 (5-0 A-10). With the loss, Massachusetts falls to 3-17 (1-4 A-10).
