Kearney advances past Gates-Chili

Nahziah Carter led five in double figures, and the Bishop Kearney Kings used a big third quarter to beat the Gates-Chili Spartans, 94-72 in the Section Five Class AA opening round. Javar Collier, Windell Lucas and Zion Morrison combined for 67 points, and East High (Rochester) coasted past St. Mary's of Manhassett, 106-52 in the Sunday opener of the third annual Bishop Kearney Christmas Showcase. Harrell scores 20; Early College holds on to defeat East

Jermer Murrell scored the game-winning basket with 27 seconds remaining as Early College fought off a late comeback to defeat East High, 70-68. Murrell  converted as Early College beat East with a long pass over full-court pressure.
