Fillmore Coach Jarrett Vosburg said, “Tonight was a classic Fillmore vs Genesee Valley/Belfast rivalry game.  We came out a bit flat-footed and it cost us less than three minutes into the game, with GVB’s Wyatt Weaver connecting off a pass from Noah Miller in tight quarters in the box.  We found ourselves trailing for the first time all year, and I was really proud of our calm response, with Levi Russell scoring a header off a throw-in from Braylon Hatch less than six minutes later, to even the score at one only eight minutes into the game.  From there, I thought we settled in nicely defensively, with our back four putting in another solid performance holding them to only one more shot the entire game.
We were able to go up 2-1 heading into the half, after Russell hit an excellent volley on frame and Brayden Walton made the disciplined run to the front of the net to cash in on the rebound.  Walton would connect once more midway through the second frame, providing the insurance goal off a beautiful slide from Judah Russell.
Tonight was a meaningful win for us as a team.  We celebrated four seniors before the game–Campbell Mucher, Isaac Wilcox, Connor McCumiskey, and Braylon Hatch– who have all had a profound impact on our success this season and beyond.  We were also able to lock up the Allegany County title in a physical, hard-fought test against a worthy opponent.  We look to finish the regular season strong Thursday night on the road against Cuba-Rushford.”
