Conor Forkey led the way with three RBI, two runs scored, and went 2-for-3 to send Cottreall-Warner to the NYS American Legion championship. Forkey hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the 942 a nine-run lead. Cottreall Warner scored five runs in the sixth inning and sent 10 batters to the plate. Tyler Estelle led off the inning with a double, then Forkey drove him in on his home run. Garrett McNeil followed up the two-run blast with a single. Brady Sayers walked in the next at-bat and McNeil scored on an error. Max Caron walked, Henry Shutts walked, and then Pete Hoffman hit a two-run single to score the final two runs of the game. Jake DiCicco pitched a complete six innings, allowed two runs and struck out three. Cottreall-Warner scored four runs in the second inning after starting the game down one run. Forkey led off with a walk, and McNeil doubled. Caron drew a walk and Ryan Merlo took a loaded bases walk to tie the game at one. An error caused by a ground ball by Shutts allowed McNeil to score. Another bases loaded walk by Nick René scored another run. Estelle drove in the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly. Another offensive explosion happened in the fourth inning where Cottreall-Warner scored four more runs. Caron led off with a walk. Shutts followed with a single. René then singled driving in a run. Shutts and René both scored on errors. Forkey hit a triple to drive in the final run of the inning. Two more runs were added in the fifth from RBI singles from Merlo and Shutts. Andrew Bunker led Hillcrest in hits going 3-3 with a run scored. Seamus MacNamee, Aedan Palmer, and Nolan Weed all had a hit and an RBI. Palmer also scored a run. KINGSTON-SAUGERTIES (23-8-1) 13
Jake Young had five RBI, one run scored, and went 2-for-3 to lead Kingston-Saugerties to the NYS American Legion Championship. Down 3-0 Kingston-Saugerties had a nine-run first inning that sent 14 batters to the plate. Will Cummings, Jackson Huber, and Kaden Deibert all drew walks to start the inning. An error caused by a ground ball from Young allowed Cummings to score. Landon VanGaasbeck then drew a bases loaded walk to score another run. John McKenna hit a grand slam in the next at bat to make it 6-3. Nico Martines singled right after, Luke Johnson singled, and Jackson Huber singled to drive in a run. Another single by Deibert and Young hit a single to drive in the ninth run of the inning. The final four runs were scored in the following inning. Martines led off with a walk, and Dylan MacDonald tripled to drive in Martines. Johnson singled right after to drive in MacDonald. Cummings, and Huber drew walks to load the bases, and Young singled clearing the bases. Austin June pitched a complete five innings, allowing three runs and striking out two. For Greece Post, Jake Weber led in hits going 2-3 with a run scored. Nate Brinza went 1-2 with an RBI and a run. Logan DeMember had a hit and a run. Wesley Sturrup had an RBI. Kingston-Saugerties will face Cottreall-Warner Post in the New York State American Legion Championship on Wednesday, at 10 a.m.
