Jacob Sova capped a decisive fifth inning with a three-run home run, and Ely Fagan Post advanced to the quarterfinals of the American Legion New York State District 7 playoffs. Leading 5-4, the 1151 sent 10 batters to the plate to clinch the mercy-rule shortened win. Oliver Wright went 3-for-4, scored once and had four RBI including a two-run double in the fifth inning. The inning started off with Sova reaching base on an error. Dylan Savage singled. Derek VanAuker also reached on an error to load the bases, and Mitchell Nieves plated a run with a single to make it 6-4. Wright followed with his two-bagger, and Matthew Turner reached on an error that allowed Nieves to score. Ryan Lewin drew a walk, and Austin Yageric delivered a two-run single. Sova capped the nine-run outburst in the next at-bat. Wright drove in the first two runs of the game on a double in the second inning that scored Savage and Landon Brown. Yageric scored the first run of the third inning when he hit a one-out triple and reached home on a wild pitch. Hayden Hodgeman struck out three over the five innings of work to pick up the win. Hodegeman allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks. For Ferris Goodridge, Jaeden Ford finished 2-for-3 including a double in the fifth inning. Ford later crossed home in the inning to pull the 330 within one run at 5-4. Tyler Newton and Andrew Lamberton had two hits. Lamberton drove in two runs. Newton accounted for one RBI and scored once. No. 5 Ely Fagan will face No. 4 James Cooke on Wednesday, at 6 PM in the quarterfinals, at Victor High School.

Emmett Tehan had three hits and two RBI to help lead East Rochester Post to a win and advance in the American Legion New York State District 7 playoffs. Tehan started his day off with two-run single in the first that gave the 1917 6-0 lead. Sean Griffin led the inning with a base hit, and Ryan LaRocco walked. Alex Wright brought home Griffin with an RBI groundout. Colin DiCicco followed with a single of his own that drove in LaRocco. Liam White-Scuderi was hit by a pitch, and Colin Miller drew a walk to load the bases. Noah Wollschleger singled driving in one run. A wild pitch put runners on second and third to set up Tehan. Donovan Kindberg hurled his second straight complete game to pick up the win. Kindberg allowed one earned run on eight hits and two walks. He struck out one. Wollschleger drove in a run in the fifth when East Rochester scored three times. DiCicco stole home making it 9-2. Jacob Murray led Braman Post going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Brady Wadsworth, Elliot Johnson, Landen Belliard, Ethan Light, Joey Bianchi and Brady Beganny added one hit apiece. Murray and Belliard drove in a run apiece and both scored. No. 7 East Rochester will face No. 3 Chili in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. A 6 PM is scheduled at Churchville-Chili High School.
