Castle Packs Power Tuesday American Legion Wrap: Miner hurls complete game as Chili Post wins fourth straight; Pearson and Rayson Miller walk off

Kal Whelehan struck out two while issuing one walk without allowing an earned run over five innings. At the plate, Whelehan went 1-for-2 with a two-run single in the second inning and scored two runs. Aaron Reina hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning that gave Chili a nine-run lead. Reina also scored twice during the game. The scoring started in the second inning when Jayden Jager plated Quintyn Whipple with a one-out single. Whelehan followed with a base hit that brought home Jager and Andrew McManus. Whelehan scored the last run of the inning when Max Spitz hit a ground ball causing an error. The third inning started with walks from Reina and Whipple. Reina advanced to third on a ground out from Bruce Hanna and McManus drove him in on a sacrifice fly. The 1830 scored four more runs in the fourth inning. Bobby Rule Jr. reached on an error. Spitz followed with a walk. Jaylen Given singled driving in the first run. Reina then hit his three-run home run for a nine-run lead. McManus led off the fifth with a double and later scored on a wild pitch. Whelehan and Rule then took walks when Spitz would hit a single, both runners would score on a throwing error for the final runs of the game. For Braman Post, Brady Wadsworth and Elliot Johnson both had two hits, and Wadsworth drove in a run. Jacob Murray, Landen Belliard, Brady Beganny, and Kevin Donalty all had one hit with Murray also driving in a run.

Josh Miner led the way with five strike outs in a complete-game effort as Chili Post ran its win streak to four games. Miner allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits without issuing a walk. Jaylen Givens went 2-for-3 with three RBI and drove in the first run of the game on a single in the first inning that brought in Bobby Rule Jr. Jackson Oliveri, Rule, and Max Spitz all drew walks in the third inning to load the bases. Givens connected on a two-run single to give Chili a three-run lead. Bruce Hanna led off the fourth inning with a single Brayden Smith did the same in the following at-bat and Hanna advanced to third on an error. Hanna scored on a wild pitch during the next at bat, and Oliveri drew a walk. Rule drove in another run on a sacrifice fly, and Oliveri scored on an error following a ground ball from Givens making it 6-0. Rule led off the sixth inning with a triple, and Spitz drew a walk. Rule and Spitz then scored on an error for the final runs of the game. In the loss, Jacob Murray, Joey Bianchi, Elliot Johnson, Ethan Light, and Brady Beganny all had one hit. Murray, Bianchi, and Beganny scored a run apiece. Bianchi had two RBI. Landen Belliard drove in one.

Matthew Lanning struck out six over five shutout innings of two-hit ball as James Cooke Post put together back-to-back wins. pitched five shutout innings. Lanning retired nine of the 10 batters he faced while allowing two balls out of the infield during that stretch. Brayden Ricigliano allowed one hit over two scoreless innings of relief to register a save. Lanning led the way on offense going 2-for-4 with a leadoff round ripper in the seventh inning to give James Cooke an insurance run. The 931 started the scoring in the third. Alex Long reached on hit by a pitch. Dom Anzalone singled, and Robbie Langdon drew a walk to load the bases. Nick Kreigelstein grounded into an RBI fielder’s choice to bring in the Long with the first run of the game. Matt Eygabroad and Dylan Chudner led the fourth with back-to-back singles. With runners on the corners, Long brought home Eygabroad with a sacrifice bunt, making it 2-0. For Irondequoit, Aaden Bishop, Vinnie D’Agostino, and Tommy VanGorder each had a hit. 

GREECE POST 468 (4-3) 2
RAYSON MILLER POST 899 (3-10) 3

Josh Pearson laid down a bases-loaded sacrifice bunt, and Rayson Miller walked off with a win. A leadoff single by Will Countryman, and intentional walks to Josiah Martin, and Jack Edelstein loaded the bases for Pearson. Tyler Potter hurled seven innings of one-hit ball in relief to pick up the win. The 899 erased a two-run deficit in the fourth inning when Martin led off with a single. Edelstein drew a walk, and Pearson laid down his first sacrifice bunt of the game to drive in their first run. Edelstein stole home in the next at-bat tying the game at two. In the loss, Wesley Sturrup had the lone hit for Greece Post. Logan DeMember, and Jake Weber both scored for the 468. Kyle Markham and Parker Goodness had an RBI apiece.
