Wednesday American Legion Wrap: Bishop shuts the door in Irondequoit Post win

Aaden Bishop stranded seven batters across seven innings to book Irondequoit Post’s first win of the season. Bishop struck out three without issuing a walk and did not allow an earned run. He also singled, walked, scored and had two RBI, including a run-scoring single to knot the game at one. A Hunter Moore triple and Eamon Smith single scored the second and third runs to cap off a three-run third inning and extend the lead to 3-1. Moore finished 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run, while Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI. After allowing a run in the bottom of the third inning with the bases loaded, Bishop and Augie Valentini drew back-to-back walks to extend the lead to 5-2. Valentini was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jayden Inglese doubled and scored, while Xavier Hughey drew a walk and scored. For Rayson Miller, Post Josh Pearson was 1-for-3 with two RBI, and a run scored. Josiah Martin went 3-for-4 with a double and scored a run. Jack Edelstein singled and scored a run. Tyler Potter threw three scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out a batter. Rayson Miller will face Ely Fagan Post on Friday, June 12th. Irondequoit looks to win back-to-back games against East Rochester Thursday, June 11th.

COTTREALL-WARNER POST 942 (1-0) 5
Tyler Estelle plated Brady Sayers with the go-ahead run in the fourth inning to lead Cottreall-Warner. Tied at two, Sayers reached on a hit by pitch to lead the frame and moved to third on a Drew Gruba single. One out later, Estelle doubled to give the 942 a lead it did not surrender. Sam Nick finished 2-for-3 in the game and scored on a Max Caron sacrifice fly in the third. Nick also brought in Gruba with an RBI fielder’s choice in the fourth. Jake DiCicco struck out three and allowed two runs (one earned) on one walk and three hits over four innings to pick up the win. Sayers also tripled and scored twice in the win. Gruba finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ferris Goodridge’s, Collin Bates went 1-2 with a run. Bates reached on hit by pitch to lead the sixth and eventually scored on an error to make it a 5-4 game. Jaedan Ford and Sam Hopkins recorded an RBI apiece. Jack Lander went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. James Gropp 1-for-3 with a double, while Gavin Zimmer recorded a pinch-hit single. Josh Davis threw 2 and 2/3 innings of relief without allowing a hit. Davis gave up one run on a walk. The two teams meet in a rematch on Friday. Ferris Goodridge will face Ely Fagan Post Thursday, June 11th.
