One team is looking to make its second regionals appearance since 2022. The other is looking to make its second regionals appearance in program history. Avon and Alden will face off in the Class B sub-regional. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Avon defeated Sodus (8-0), Mynderse (5-1) and Wellsville (2-1) to claim the Class B2 sectional championship before beating Waterloo (6-1) to advance to the sub-regionals. Alden defeated Medina (12-0), Akron (12-0), Allegany-Limestone (7-5) and Fredonia (12-11) to earn the Class B championship and advance to the sub-regionals.
Tempo and trends: Avon averages 4.2 runs per game and allows 0.9 runs per game. Alden averages 12.1 runs per game and allows 3.1 runs per game. Avon enters winning six of its last seven matchups and has only allowed 18 runs all season. Alden enters winning 13 straight matchups.

History 101: Avon has made one regional appearance in program history, defeating Falconer 5-0 in 2022. Alden is looking to make its second regional appearance since 2015 when the Bulldogs defeated Haverling 5-4.
What’s at stake: A spot in the Class B state quarterfinals against Susquehanna Valley (IV) on Saturday, June 6 at Gates Chili High School at 10:00 a.m.
