How they arrived here: Webster Schroeder got past Greece Olympia/Odyssey 4-0 before knocking off cross-town rival Webster Thomas 2-0 in the AA1 semifinals. In the title game, the Warriors took down Hilton by a score of 3-1 in extra innings. In the state qualifier against Canandaigua, a late hit by Ryan LaRocco lifted Webster Schroeder to a 9-7 win. Hamburg won 18-0 over North Tonawanda and 3-2 against Clarence to secure a spot in the Section VI Class AA championship. There, the Bulldogs won 2-1 over Williamsville East to secure a spot in the state tournament.

History 101: Webster Schroeder is in the state tournament for the first time in a decade. In 2016, the Warriors made it all the way to the Class AA state championship game. Hamburg was last in the state tournament in 2022, and got as far as the Class A state title game.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class AA quarterfinals against the winner of Garden City (VIII) and Horseheads (IV) on Friday.
