Constantino Financial Sub-Regional Preview: McQuaid to meet Niagara Falls in Class AAA

Each team has already won a sectional title. McQuaid has won eight straight games, while Section VI Niagara Falls has won four of its past six.

The Knights and Wolverines will meet in the state tournament for the second straight season. This will get you ready:

How they arrived here: McQuaid defeated Rush-Henrietta 8-2 to clinch a spot in the championship series, where it swept Fairport to win the Section V Class AAA title. Niagara Falls beat Jamestown to clinch a spot in the Section VI Class AAA championship series. There, the Wolverines won in three games to secure a title.

History 101: McQuaid is in the state tournament for the second season in a row. Last year, the Knights made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Niagara Falls, who ended up falling in the state semifinals.

What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class AAA Quarterfinals against the winner of Christian Brothers Academy Syracuse (III) and Elmira (IV).
