Constantino Financial Sectional Final Preview: Pittsford Sutherland and Honeoye Falls-Lima to decide Class A

One squad has only lost twice in their past 14 games. The other hasn’t given up a run in their past three.

Pittsford Sutherland is the top-seed of the bracket, and has a perfect 7-0 record against other Class A teams. Honeoye Falls-Lima is outscoring its opponents 24-0 in postseason play and is in pursuit of their second title in four seasons.

The Knights and Cougars will meet on Saturday to decide the Class A champion in a clash of Monroe County foes. This will get you ready:

How they arrived here: Pittsford Sutherland opened sectional play with a 1-0 win over No. 9 seed Batavia in the quarterfinals before taking down No. 5 seed Geneva 5-4 in the semifinals. Honeoye Falls-Lima knocked off third-seeded School of the Arts 20-0 in the round of eight and shutout seventh-seed Palmyra-Macedon in a 4-0 semifinal win to clinch a spot in the title game.

History 101: The two squads met twice in the regular season, with Pittsford Sutherland winning both matchups. The Knights Sutherland have won 16 sectional titles, tied for the most in Section V history. A win Saturday would give them their third title since 2022. The Cougars are on the hunt for their fourth sectional title and second since 2023. 

What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class A Far West Regional against the Section VI Class A winner, either Grand Island or Olean.
