
Two teams enter this weekend each in a sectional championship game for the first time in at least five years.
Second-seeded Hilton turned around a 3-5 start, winning 10 of its past 13 games to reach the title game for the first time since 2021. Webster Schroeder, the No. 5 seed, has ripped off five wins in six games to make it into the championship game for the first time in a decade.
It’s a showdown of a couple of Monroe County teams on Friday night. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Hilton defeated No. 7 seed Spencerport 3-2 in the quarterfinal round before taking down sixth-seeded Penfield 4-0 to clinch a spot in the championship game. Webster Schroeder got past No. 4 seed Greece Olympia/Odyssey 4-0 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, a 2-0 win over crosstown rival and No. 1 seed Webster Thomas booked the Warriors a spot in the title game.

History 101: The teams met twice in the regular season, with Hilton winning both matchups by one run each. The Cadets haven’t won a sectional title since 2008. A win would give them their third championship in program history. It would also be the third-ever title for Webster Schroeder, and its first since 2016.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class AA Far West Regional Qualifier against the winner of Canandaigua and Irondequoit.
