Kolby Frechette went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI to lead Wayne past No. 7 NYSSWA Class C Unatego for its third one-run win of the season. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Eagles tied the score at one in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Connor Crawford that drove in Lucas Welker. Wayne then took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third. Aidan Twist led off the inning with a walk. Caleb Celso drove him in with a single before scoring himself on a double from Kolby Frechette. With two outs and Kolby still on third, Kamden Frechette drove him in with a double to push the lead to three. The Eagles pitching staff held that lead for the rest of the game, allowing just a two-run single in the top of the fifth. Twist got the start on the mound for Wayne, allowing an unearned run on two hits and two walks, striking out three in his four innings of work. Ben Smith earned the win for the Eagles, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks, fanning four in his three innings of work. Matthew Huber and Tanner Garrow notched a hit each for Wayne. Xander Johnson led the Unatego bats, going 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. Tristan Fairbairn went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Levi Russell went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Carter Ross pitched two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three.
