Imagine RIT Wednesday Baseball Wrap: Livonia’s O’Connor and Taylor combine on gem; Gananda wins fifth straight

RUSH-HENRIETTA (1-9) 4

Matthew Turner finished 2-for-3 including an RBI single in the first inning when Rush-Henrietta grabbed a lead it did not surrender at 2-0. Oliver Wright drew a walk to lead the first and moved to second on a stolen base. Turner delivered with a two-out single and scored on an error. Turner started and struck out four over five and two-thirds innings to pick up the win. Hayden Hodgeman went 1-3 with an RBI in the third. Tony Cole scored a run in the third and went 1-3 in the game. Nathan Fox also crossed home for the Royal Comets. Penfield’s A.J. Carnevale singled and had two RBI. Matt Scibienski and Ryan Ritchlin both doubled and scored for the Patriots. Nathan Scozzaro singled, walked twice and crossed home once.

FAIRPORT (8-0) 1
VICTOR (3-6) 0

Jon Roessel, Tyler Grodner, Lucas Andreatta, and Nate Chaffee combined on a two-hitter as Fairport registered its second straight shutout. Roessel started and struck out seven over four innings of work. The USC-Upstate commit retired 12 of 14 batters he faced. Andreatta had two strikeouts. Garrett McNiel went 2-for-2 and drove in the lone run on a single in the first. Dan Roessel was 2-3 and scored the only run. Jon Roessel also went 2-3 at the plate. Fairport has allowed 10 runs this season. Ben Guiffre and Myles Lalley each collected one hit for Victor.

BRIGHTON (3-5) 6
SPENCERPORT (6-2) 0

Max Sheehan struck out nine and hurled a two-hitter as Brighton put together back-to-back wins. At the plate, Sheehan went 2-for-4. His solo home run to lead the sixth sparked a three-run frame and give the Bruins a 4-0 lead. Sheehan also doubled and scored two runs. Nate Deitz went 1-3 with a solo home run in the fifth inning to score the first run for Brighton. Hudson Coles scored a run, stole two bases, and took two walks. Drew Sienkowski and Ethan Bialaszewski each had one hit, scored a run, and drove in a run. Jaeden Ford and James Gropp had a hit apiece for Spencerport.

GREECE ARCADIA (2-4) 4
GATES CHILI (2-5) 10
Andrew McManus went 2-for-4 and scored two runs to lead Gates Chili. The senior catcher plated Jaylen Givens with a two-out single in the first when the Spartans grabbed a 2-0 lead that they did not surrender. Givens was 2-4 in the win. Ryan Stade went 2-3 and brought home McManus in the first inning. Nick DiFrancesca added a one-run single in the sixth inning. Nolan Gage went 1-2 with two walks and three runs scored. Gavin Sweeney earned the win for Gates Chili he gave up six hits and three run over five innings. Matthew Healey pitched two innings of relief. Greece Arcadia’s Ryan Bailey was 2-4 with a double. Julio Sosa singled, walked twice, had an RBI and scored once. Blake DeForest singled and drove in a run for the Titans. Brady Colbert walked and had an RBI. Ryan Cesario was 2-3 with an RI. Chris Walter singled and scored.

GREECE ATHENA (0-9) 0
CANANDAIGUA (7-1) 9

Cole Harris struck out eight over six and a third innings of three-hit ball as Canandaigua won its second straight. Harris also went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run double in the sixth inning when the Gray Wolves scored six times. Austin Kierst drove in Canandaigua’s first run on a groundout in the third inning. Griffin Kierst went 2-2 and crossed the plate twice in the win. Sam Clark finished 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Brandon Dowitsch drew two walks and scored two runs. Jackson Arnaud retired both batters he faced in two-thirds of an inning in relief. Joeseph Nucci and Jacob Dewyea had the only hits for Greece Athena.

PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND (5-3) 1
PITTSFORD MENDON (7-2) 4

Ethan Postle started and struck out 14 over six innings of two-hit ball as Mendon took a second straight decision from its crosstown rival and sixth win overall. JoJo Martin had a pair of hits and drove in a run. Jesse Jablonsky went 1-3 at the plate and led the Vikings in RBI with two. Mendon scored all four of its runs in the fourth inning. Noah Sansone and Sam Harrigan both came home on a single by Jablonsky. Ben Wabnitz also crossed home. Jablonsky scored on a sacrifice fly. Noah Gressell scored the lone run for Sutherland on a walk in the seventh inning.

GREECE OLYMPIA/ODYSSEY (5-3) 3
HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA (6-3) 1
Tyler Ashton scattered seven hits and struck out seven in a complete-game effort to lead Olympia/Odyssey. Ashton also walked and scored a run in the sixth when the Griffins pushed across a pair to snap a one-all tie. Juliun Carter and Alex Bianchi had one hit apiece in the win. Connor Welker walked an had an RBI. Carter scored on a walk and Ashton scored on a wild pitch. Jason Webber had the lone RBI for Honeoye Falls-Lima on a sacrifice fly in the third. Owen Kearney led the Cougars 2-for-3 with a triple and scored the lone run. Kearney also went six innings on the mound allowing one hit and striking out nine batters.  Austin Coyle also had two hits for HF-L.

BATAVIA (0-7) 10
BROCKPORT (4-3) 13

Mason Standish drove in the game-winning run on a single in the seventh inning breaking a 10-10 tie. Brockport took advantage of an error and added two more runs. Standish went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Jack Lincoln was 2-4 and scored twice. Isaac Melson had one hit and scored three times. Ty Sherman walked four times and crossed the plate three times. Gabe Turbeville went 1-3 with an RBI. Standish also got the win on the mound in relief pitching one inning and striking out two.

Kaisel Cuevas and Christian Leal combined on a no-hitter. Cuevas struck out 13 and walked five over five innings. Leal fanned five of the six batters he faced. At the plate, Cuevas went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Diego Cordero drew three walks and scored once. Yhadiel Perez singled and scored.

EDISON TECH (2-6) 0

Nolan O’Neill, Erik Gomez Medina, and Declan Caron combined for a two-hitter and had twelve strikeouts all together. O’Niell went 1-for-4 and crossed the plate once. Caron went 1-1, scored a run, and drove in a run. Ryder Froman and Aaden Bishop drove in a run apiece. Froman also scored two runs. Gomez Medina led the team in runs, crossing the plate three times.

PALMYRA-MACEDON (5-3)

Trailing 4-1 into the seventh inning, East scored six runs to secure the win. Eric “Chunky” Jones earned the win on the mound while Jadiel Santiago picked up the save. Noah Dapolito had a hit, scored a run, drove in a run, and walked twice. Joel Redmond went 1-for-3 and drew a walk. Andy West went 1-4 with an RBI. Jordan Goff went 1-3 and drew a walk.

SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (3-3) 11
CHARLES G. FINNEY (1-3) 0

James “Ham” Laver hurled three scoreless innings and went 2-for-3 with a triple to lead School of the Arts. Laver’s RBI three-bagger in the first helped stake the Silverhawks to a 3-0 lead. SOTA added three more in the second. Henry Hawkinson was 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Bennie Laver went 2-5 with two triples, an RBI and three runs scored. Bruce Newton singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Paul Stevens singled, drove in a pair and also crossed home once.

OAKFIELD-ALABAMA (1-4) 2
NORTHSTAR CHRISTIAN (5-2) 12

Tyson Deaton earned the win on the mound going five innings and striking out 13 batters. Charlie Oakden pitched one inning in relief gave up one hit and struck out two. Deaton went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once. Oakden led the Knights going 2-4 he crossed the plate three times, and drove in two runs. Jeremiah Schwaderer had two RBI, he scored twice. Northstar Christian added five runs in the fifth inning. Braeden Miller drove in two runs and went 1-4 in the game.

BISHOP KEARNEY (1-3) 5
EAST ROCHESTER (5-0) 10

Jaidyn Herb finished 3-for-4 and scored the tying run in the fifth inning after trailing by four. Herb also had two RBI and stole a base. Izaiah Lewis drove in two runs and gave East Rochester a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning. Andrew Newman pitched a complete game striking out five and giving up four runs. Newman went 2-4 at the plate and scored two runs. Liam DeHollander went 2-4 with a stolen base and drove in two runs. Donnelle Saxton doubled, walked three times, drove in two runs and crossed home once. Mason Loria scored a run and walked three times.

CLYDE-SAVANNAH (3-2-1) 1
GANANDA (7-2) 19

Maddox Stoughton and Peter Jacob combined for a three-hitter, and Gananda won its fifth straight. Stoughton led the Panthers going 4-for-4 and driving in five runs. Gananda had a 14-run third inning. Owen Switzer went 2-3, crossed the plate three times, and drove in three runs. Jacob went 1-3, scored three times, and drove in two. Brayden Nodar went 1-2, scored twice, and had one RBI. Henry Shutts went 2-3, crossed the plate four times, drove in two, and took a walk. Isaac Bloomer drove in the only run for Clyde-Savannah on a single in the fourth inning.

LYONS (1-8) 6
WILLIAMSON (2-3) 14

Caiden Watson scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch. Watson went 2-for-3, scored three runs, and drew two walks. Williamson scored five runs in the first inning. David DeFisher went 2-5 and scored a run. Spencer Blauvelt earned the win on the mound going three and two third innings and striking out four. DeFisher took the mound in relief and struck out five. Blauvelt led the team in base on balls with three. Myles Wurtz and Mikey Ishler led the team in RBI with a pair each.

NAPLES (4-3) 3
MARCUS WHITMAN (4-1) 13

Curtis Kierst went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to lead Marcus Whitman. Eli Cooper and Connor Williams each had a pair of RBI in the win. Williams struck out six over three and two-thirds innings to pick up the win. Matthew Medero drew three walks. Naples tied the game in the second inning on a single by Rowan Briggs and an error to score two runs.

BLOOMFIELD/HONEOYE (4-0) 10

Zach Chavez pitched a complete game two-hitter and struck out four. Chavez also went 2-for-2 at the plate and crossed the plate twice. Gunner Vogel led the Bombers going 4-4, with four RBI and three runs scored . Levi Gumaer went 3-4, with an RBI and a run scored. Grady Rogers had two hits, drove in a run, and scored a run.

Kaidan O’Connor and Oliver Taylor combined on a no-hitter as Livonia won its third straight game and sixth in the past seven. O’Connor struck out 17 and walked three over 6 2/3 innings. The senior retired the first six batters he faced and 10 of 11 to start the game. He faced three batters over the minimum for the outing. O’Connor also went 3-for-5, drove in a run, and scored a run. Aaron Kime went 2-4 with a bases-clearing double as part of a four-RBI effort. Landon Fiel walked twice and scored twice. Taylor set down the only batter he faced.

WAYLAND-COHOCTON (5-2) 4
HAVERLING (8-3) 7

Parker Lafler scored on an error in the sixth inning to break a four-all tie, and Dylan Wenban followed with a two-run single. Wenban went 2-for-4 in the win. Eric Carney-Hendrix was 2-3 two RBI and two runs scored. Landin Ames also had two RBI and went 1-3.

PERRY (3-4) 19
LETCHWORTH (1-2) 2

Parker McGarvey pitched a complete game four-hitter, struck out eight, and walked one. McGarvey also singled, drove in two runs, and crossed home plate once. Maximus Siewert was 2-for-2 with three walks and four runs scored. Walker Briggs and Zack Baker each scored three times. Briggs singled, walked and had an RBI. Baker was 1-2 with an RBI and two walks. Osborne Hernandez singled, drove in three and scored twice. Tyler Harvey, Chuck Derin, and Patrick Feroleto had a pair of hits each. Harvey led the group with two RBI and Derin led the group with 2 scores.

WARSAW (0-5) 1

Brayden Murphy came on with bases loaded in the second and went the rest of the way for Avon earning the win. Murphy went 4 2/3 scoreless innings, scattering three hits and striking out six. Nick Fries went 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Nate Urbanik was 2-4 with four RBI. Cam Gibson finished 2-4 with two RBI. Collin Roberts went 2-4 with two runs scored. RJ Gibson singled and had an RBI.

CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (3-6) 7
GENESEO (5-2) 5

Tyler Potter struck out six including the 105th of his varsity career over 6 2/3 Innings to pick up the win. Potter did not issue a walk. Austin Metzger was 1-for-2 with an RBI and stolen base. Colton Auger went 1-1 and had the game-winning RBI. Landon Sheehan singled, drove in a run and scored. Grayson Mielke was 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.

ALEXANDER (1-4) 15
ATTICA (3-5) 0 (F/5)

Jacob Bailey finished 3-for-4 including a two-run double in the first to help stake Alexander to a 5-0 lead. Bailey added another two-bagger and had three RBI and a run scored in the win. Leo Egloff doubled twice, drove in a run and scored. Preston Dinkins was 2-2 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored. Colton Smith went 2-3 with a walk and two RBI. Mason Wells singled, walked, had three RBI and scored twice. Mason Snyder singled, walked twice and scored twice. Snyder scattered four hits and a walk over 3 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Myles Grimes hurled an inning and a third scoreless innings of relief. Nick Marzolf singled, drove in two and scored twice.

PAVILION/YORK (4-4) 2
KESHEQUA (3-3) 5

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, Nolan Therrien doubled and Aiden Upright set up runners on the corners with a single. Nathan Hillier delivered with an RBI groundout, and Upright took advantage of an error to score. Keshequa took the lead in the fifth as Caleb Carroll drew a walk and moved to second on a Lukas Pike sacrifice bunt that was mishandled. The Wildcats scored on an Aiden Howe sacrifice fly. Therrien and Upright followed with an RBI groundout and a run-scoring single. Ryan Fox started on the mound and went five innings giving up two runs while striking out seven. Therrien pitched the last two frames striking out four. 

“ This was a game we needed,” Keshequa head coach Tim Howe said via email. “We had lost a few tight ones in the past few weeks and needed to get back on track. The boys played well at all aspects tonight. Hats off to coach Kingdon always a battle til the end.”
