Constantino Financial Tuesday Baseball Wrap: Livonia’s Scott Gilman notches career victory No. 400; Loop and Wayland-Cohocton walk it off

WAYLAND-COHOCTON (1-0) 6

Ethan Loop plated Orion Walker with a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh, and Wayland-Cohocton walked off with the win. Loop finished with three RBI. Walker struck out four over 2 1/3 innings in relief to pick up the win and went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and three runs scored. Hayden Wolfganger started, fanned eight and allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings. Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, Keshequa’s Aiden Howe knotted the game with a two-run double. Brady Wood added a two-run ,two-bagger of his own in the seventh. Nolan Therrien tied the game with an RBI groundout. Therrien had two hits in the game. Blake Sanford singled and scored. Kolton Berthold connected on his first varsity hit for the Wildcats.

LIVONIA (1-0) 5

A trio of pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout, and Jake Benitez went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and an RBI to lead Livonia. Seth Eadie started and struck out seven against four walks over 3.2 innings. Oliver Taylor fanned three over two innings in relief to pick up the win. Kaidan O’Connor finished with three strike outs over three-and-a third innings of work. Benitez broke a scoreless tie in the fourth when he brought in Taylor with a thee-bagger. Livonia erupted for four runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Benitez put runners on second and third with a double, and Carson Beardsley followed with a sacrifice fly. Grant Francis plated a run with a single. Harper Rowe doubled in another run, and Jack Oliver capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly. The win was the 400th for Livonia head coach Scott Gilman. Perry senior Walker Briggs started, struck out eight and allowed an unearned run on one hit over five innings. Max Siewert had two hits, and Pat Feroleto added a triple for the Yellowjackets.

CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (0-1) 0
HAVERLING (1-0) 14 F/5

Seniors Gage Thomas and Dylan Wenban scored four runs, drove in five and combined on a no-hitter to lead Haverling. Wenban sparked a six-run first inning with a leadoff triple. Thomas followed with a RBI single, and the Rams had a lead they did not surrender. Wenban finished 4-for-4 adding a double to his line along with four RBI and two runs scored. Thomas was 1-3 with two runs scored. Thomas started and struck out eight against two walks over three shutout innings. Wenban fanned one in two innings of work. Dante Nealey, Parker Lafler and Eric Carney-Hendrix added two hits apiece in the win. Nealey scored three times. Lafler and Carney-Hendrix both crossed home twice. Lukas Wightman doubled and scored. Jackson Derick and Asher Phenes both scored once and drove in a run.
