Saturday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Paddock’s double-double paces Le Roy; McDermott leads Mynderse into the quarterfinals

Maddie Paddock posted a double-double to lead Le Roy which jumped out to a 24-2 lead after one quarter and cruised into the Class B2 quarterfinals. Paddock finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists. Bailey Caton handed out three assists and connected on a trio of 3-pointers as part of a 17-point effort in the win. Lilly MacKenzie also hit three times from distance and finished 13 points, five assists and four rebounds. Makenna Gallo accounted for nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals while Kylie Wilson had six points and four steals. Cora Weaver (5), Molly Chase (4) and Kendall Bunch also scored for the Oatkan Knights who will play third-seeded Avon in the next round. Genevieve VanDerBroek led Sodus with six points. Daphne Creason (2), Malia Cromartie (2) and Kendall Littlefield (1) also scored for the Spartans.

Danielle McDermott accounted for 12 of her game-high 18 points in the first half as Mynderse took a 27-8 lead after two quarters of play. McDermott connected five times from the floor including a pair of 3-pointers to lead the Blue Devils into the quarterfinals where they will face No. 2 Marcus Whitman. Adryana Ryrko added seven points while Peyton Verkey, Ryleigh Ryrko and Allyson Fenton added six apiece in the win. Iris Heitmann (1), Reese Markel (5), Elliana Ferrara (2) and Gabriella Higby (5) also scored for Mynderse. Meg Gersitz and Alyssa Elmore scored seven apiece for Attica. Corrin Orlowski (4), Nora Sphar (1) and Bryleigh Piechoki (1) also scored scored.

Red Creek will face top-seeded Cuba-Rushford/Bolivar-Richburg in the quarterfinals.
