Rochester native and former UPrep standout Jeenathan “Nate” Williams reportedly signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
The 27-year old has started 35 games with the Long Island Nets this season, the Brooklyn Nets’ G-League affiliate. In 34 minutes per game, Williams averages 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals.
At UPrep, Williams played for three seasons, including a junior campaign where he posted 22 points per game, seven rebounds per game and five assists per game. After a year at Prolific Prep in California, he went on to attend the University of Buffalo for three years, including a junior season where he averaged 17.6 points per game with 6.8 rebounds per game and was selected to the All-MAC Second Team. After going undrafted in 2022. Williams has spent time with the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers at the NBA level, and has a career average of 3.9 points per game.
Williams is one of four Section V alumni currently playing at the NBA level. Isaiah Stewart (McQuaid) is in his sixth season with a Detroit Pistons team currently in first place in the Eastern Conference, and is averaging 10.0 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and 1.7 blocks per game. Ninth-year center Thomas Bryant (Bishop Kearney) has averaged 5.2 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jalen Pickett (Aquinas) is in his third season with the Denver Nuggets. The guard is averaging 5.4 points per game, 2.6 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game this season.
