We were really pleased with how Jack Henry defended tonight and battled on the boards. He also stayed composed despite a clear defensive focus on taking away his scoring and found other ways to impact the game, a prideful leadership moment for the face of our program. Chance Watkins, as he typically does, set the tone defensively with energy and communication. His recent assist totals, though, are what is really jumping off the page. His vision and improved decision-making have been massive for us lately.”

“With some good defense from John Ayers and Trent Englert we were able to get into the locker room only down four points. We shook up the line up a little bit in the second half and got some great minutes from Caleb Gavin and Trent Englert on the defensive end. Those two along with Ayers seemed to spark something into our other players on the defensive end in the third quarter.”

“Pat (Cuba-Rushford head coach, Wight) had C-R ready to play as they came out and established Peyton and Adam inside early,” Fillmore head coach Randy Crouch said via email. “We focus on winning the first four minutes of every game, and we certainly did not do that tonight. I am proud of how we battled back and got the lead and the momentum in the second quarter.  From there on, it was just two teams battling, and every possession seemed consequential. Fortunately, we made a few more plays in the final four minutes.  Cam and Jonah were just huge down the stretch.  Cam seemingly couldn’t miss from 3 and that opened the floor for Jonah to get downhill and attack the rim. C-R is tough and is a team that could easily be playing for a championship in a few weeks.  Thankful we were able to get the win, and clinch our sixth straight league title.”

“I thought we started too slow, so we as coaches were not happy with the first five minutes,” Andover-Whitesville head coach Jimmy Joyce said via email. “Too many forced shots, too many missed easy buckets and not enough defense. Gotta be better for 32 minutes if we want to get where we want to be.   After we woke up I was much more pleased with our overall effort.  Have to give credit to Jeff Prentice, every year his squads are much better the second time around and this season was no different.   He’s a very good coach and a class act.”
