Alex Grejda (Sr. Fairport) and Isaiah Sisson (Fillmore) led their respective squads to state championship games.
The duo topped the list of 21 Section V Boys’ Soccer players who were honored among the best in New York State.
Grejda anchored a Fairport defense that recorded 11 shutouts on the season as the Red Raiders opened with 18 straight wins pair of an overall 37-game unbeaten streak before falling 1-nil in the state final to Commack. Grejda finished this season with six goals and an assist.
Grejda was one of nine Section V players to receive Large School All-State honors along with Joseph Arikkat (Sr. Pittsford Sutherland), Alessandro Bosa (Sr. Brighton), Ezra Gathercole (Sr. Honeoye Falls-Lima), Chris Keller (Sr. Churchville-Chili), Colin Krohn (Sr. Pittsford Mendon), Cash Rosado (Sr. Brockport), Mason Simmons (Sr. Churchville-Chili) and Mason Vallow (Sr. Penfield).
Sisson netted 35 goals and added four assists in leading Fillmore to a 20-1-2 mark and a share of the NYS Class D title. The senior found the back of the net twice in the Eagles 3-nil win over Section VI representative, Maple Grove in the state quarterfinals.
Sisson joined 11 other Section V performers receiving commendations: Oscar Austin (Sr. Naples), Connor Betrus (Jr. Naples), Ben Burns (Sr. Williamson), Demayne Dixon (Sr. Hornell), Elijah Doell (Mynderse), Wyatt Evingham (Sr. Hornell), Carl George-Baverstock (Sr. Wayland-Cohocton), Sean Hogan (Sr. East Rochester), Noah Kaczanowski (Sr. Le Roy), Colin Rea (Sr. Byron-Bergen) and Pablo Rosario-Reyes (Sr. Kendall).
Large-School selections from Section VI include: Noah Bernys (East Aurora), Nico Buscaglia (Williamsville East), Hayden Cunningham (Canisius), Carson Holden Clarence), Owen Mack (East Aurora), Jack Pachla (Grand Island), Jacob Putnam (Clarence), Henry Smith (Canisius) and Roland Wenk (Lancaster).
Small-School selections from Section VI: Luke Duffina (Medina), Cooper Freeman (Randolph), Cole Herrmann (Wilson), Eca Kabeza (Lafayette International), Aiden Neumann (Wilson), Freddy Sanclemente (Lafayette International) and Cooper Wilczewski (Allegany Limestone).
