Grejda, Rosario-Reyes receive top honors from Section V Boys’ Soccer

Fairport’s Alex Grejda and Kendall’s Pablo Rosario-Reyes led their respective teams to undefeated seasons and No. 1 seeds.

Section V Boys’ Soccer recognized the pair with top honors for the 2025 season.

Grejda was named Ronald Zorn Large Schools Player of the Year.

The senior center back paced a Red Raider squad that posted 14 wins in the regular season without a loss or a tie. 

He was part of a defense that registered 10 shutouts heading into sectionals and also contributed four goals and an assist to the offense.

Fairport, the reigning state champion and currently No. 1 in the state, will face Guilderland of Section II in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class AAA semifinals this Saturday. That game is scheduled for a 3:45 p.m. kickoff at Middletown High School.

Rosario-Reyes garnered Jeff Farnsworth Small School Player of the Year honors.

The senior midfielder topped all scorers in Section V with 25 assists. 

He added 24 goals to lead Kendall to an unbeaten regular season mark of 16 wins without a loss or a tie.

Kendall earned top seed in Class C2.  

Grejda and Rosario-Reyes headed the list of of student-athletes who earned Player of the Year for respective leagues including Yassan Ali (Wilson/Early College/Rochester City Athletic Conference), Isaiah Sisson (Fillmore/Allegany County), Sean Hogan (East Rochester/Wayne County), Chris Keller (Churchville-Chili/Monroe County II), Cash Rosado (Brockport/Monroe County III), Ezra Gathercole (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Monroe County IV); Cristian Mazur (Northstar Christian/Private-Parochial League), Joseph Alves Shanks (Bishop Kearney/Private-Parochial), Jaxon O’Brien (Canisteo-Greenwood/Steuben County), Carter Button (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Steuben County), Noah Kaczanowski (Le Roy/Caledonia-Mumford/Livingston County Athletic Association I), Aiden Cranmer (Haverling/Livingston County Athletic Association II), Oren Ray (Geneseo/Livingston County Athletic Association III), Elijah Doell (Mynderse/Finger Lakes East) and Connor Betrus (Naples/Finger Lakes West).

Section V Boys’ Soccer handed out Coach of the Year awards to Bill Teasdale (Fairport/Class AAA), John Mahoney (Churchville-Chili/Class AA), Mark Hurley (Pittsford Mendon/Class A), Jim Tobin (Hornell/Class B), Matt LaFontaine (East Rochester/Class C1), Jon Betrus (Naples/Class C2), Jarrett Vosburg (Fillmore/Class D1) and John Stamets (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Class D2).

Teasdale was named the Joe Borrosh Large School Coach of the Year. Vosburg earned the G. Scotty Martin Small School Coach of the Year.

Benji Parkes (Churchville-Chili) and Marco DeBole (Fairport) were named Co-Large Schools Assistant Coach of the Year. Todd Wright (Arkport-Canaseraga) and Tony Carapella (Campbell-Savona) received Co-Small Schools Assistant Coach of the Year.
