Weekend Football Wrap: Watkins sets Schroeder program mark; Cunningham and Monroe stay unbeaten

Hilton safety Tyler Reger blocked the would-be game-tying extra point with 25 seconds left to ensure a Hilton victory, its fourth win in a row. Matt Kosiorek connected with Jared Wade for an 84-yard touchdown for the Cadets, while Jahzae Dessources led the defense with 11 tackles. Luca Aurioso had 10 tackles, including for a loss, and added a sack as well.

Briyceton Thomas scored two touchdowns on the ground while Kamari Miller rushed for 235 yards and a touchdown as University Prep won its second straight. Ja’yvion Sampson led receivers with 103 yards. Cashmere Williams led the Griffins defense with seven tackles, including three for a loss, and also forced two fumbles. Kayvari Griffin made five tackles including one for a loss, and also recovered a fumble and brought it back for a touchdown. Kamari Miller made five tackles including one for a loss and pulled down an interception. Daniel “DJ” Davis also grabbed an interception. Ja’yvion Sampson recorded six tackles.

Zane Kropman rushed for 217 yards and a touchdown as the Penfield Patriots got the win. Brodie Joyce had three catches for 113 yards on offense while making five tackles and returning an interception for a touchdown on defense. Jake Mauer made three pass break-ups, an interception, and recovered a fumble. Jake Richards had seven tackles, while Nate Masters added four tackles and a sack.

MJ Wells scored two touchdowns in the opening quarter as Webster Thomas extended its win streak to five. Ashton Thomas also scored on a 90-yard touchdown run early in the second half, while Colin Revello caught a 60-yard touchdown. AJ Blodgett led the Titans with seven tackles, including one for a loss. Ari Gefell and Josh Jobson each had a sack.

Ocean Minor led Churchville-Chili with 224 yards rushing and three touchdowns as the Saints won their fifth straight. Darien Cotton Jr. (2), Amajah Jackson (1), and Jaxon Leonard (1) scored rushing touchdowns, with Leonard also throwing a touchdown pass to Jackson. Ryan Barry was a perfect 5-for-5 in point-after-tries. Andrew Frost led defensively with five tackles. Kendred Beachum pulled down an interception. Jackson Childs passed for 300 yards for Arcadia, tallying three touchdowns, all to Drake Sapp, who finished the night with 253 receiving yards. Denzel Medlock had a forced fumble on defense.

Justin Medina rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns as Brighton won its second game in its last three. Ethan Bialaszewski threw for 113 yards, and connected with Leo Hopkins for two touchdowns. Matthew Heininger led the Bruins in receiving yards, with 80, while also making four tackles (including two for a loss) and an interception. Zack Rossignol ran for 60 on offense while leading the Bruins with 10 tackles on defense. Colin Rossignol amassed eight tackles, including one for a loss. Queyanu McDermott and Anthony Julian each had six tackles.

WEBSTER SCHROEDER (3-3) 37

Kalin Watkins threw for a school-record 452 yards and notched five passing touchdowns as Webster Schroeder won its second straight. AJ Amico tallied 230 yards receiving with two touchdowns, while Zach Kaldas racked up 169 yards with two touchdowns. Trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, Watkins connected with Amico on a 58-yard strike then followed that with a 78-yard touchdown play to Kaldas. Watkins and Amico hooked up again on a 90-yard touchdown late in the second quarter as the Warriors went on to score 30-straight points. Antonio Tebo made a sack for a safety.

Travis Portis rushed for two touchdowns as Athena won its second game in the last four. Owen Figler connected with receivers for two touchdowns, with Jadore Santiago also recording a touchdown pass. Colten Waterman caught two touchdowns, with Cole Poth recording another. Cam’ron Bell rushed for a score. Chase Sullivan led the Trojans with two interceptions and a touchdown return. Brayden Smith also pulled down an interception.

Junayde Richardson connected on two touchdown passes and 154 passing yards while adding 57 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as East won for the third time in its last four games. Dezmon Jackson made three catches for 126 yards, catching both touchdown passes from Richardson. Zieyaun Cook-Tyson led the Eagles with 13 tackles including one for a loss, while also racking up a sack and a forced fumble. Taye Brown Jr. had 11 tackles, while Legend Taylor had nine.

Monroe led 8-7 at the half but scored 30 unanswered in the second half to remain perfect on the year. Pooty Cunningham went 16-for-20 for 250 yards and three passing touchdowns, including one to Ray Garcia and two to Messiah Hampton. Hampton also rushed for a 41-yard touchdown. Christien Franklin (14), Jovon Bennett (12), Jordan Wickham (10), and Hampton (9) led Monroe in tackles.

Brennan Weber ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns as Le Roy/Caledonia-Mumford won its second game of its last three. Cameron Riggi also scored a rushing touchdown. Brady McClurg connected with Austin Metzger for a touchdown pass. Joe Reschke led the Raiders with four tackles, including two for a loss. Dillon Alcott, Thomas Crissy, and Jude Christ had three each, with two of them for a loss by Crissy.

Jake McEntire scored a rushing touchdown and led Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry’s combined team with 10 tackles (including two for a loss) for its third straight victory. Maddox Kelly and Ronan Merritt each had a rushing touchdown, with Merrit also contributing on defense with an interception. Brayden Schroeder (8, with a sack), Carter Price (5), Mason Sundt (5), Logan Gath (5), and Darren Abbot (5, with 2 sacks) also contributed on defense.

Livonia’s Jack Henry completed two passes for 32 yards and rushed for another 97 yards. Seth Eadie had 10 carries for 75 while Jacob Benitez gained 60 yards on the ground with 14 rushes. Zack Gardiner led the Bulldogs’ defense with seven tackles. Jacob Benitez and Chayse Barrett had five tackles apiece.

A sack for a safety by Jacob Johnson set the tone for Alexander/Pembroke as the Defenders posted their third shutout of the season. Brody Heckman threw a touchdown pass to Duke Snyder and ran in a touchdown late for the Defenders. Ryder Reichert led with 140 rushing yards, including two touchdowns. Reichert also made two interceptions defensively. Austin Humphrey hit a field goal. Sean Pietrzykowski also scored a touchdown, while making five tackles. Wyatt summers led the way with six tackles, with Johnson making five.

Evan Blye was 12-for-16 for 251 yards and four touchdowns as Avon won its fourth straight. James Chase scored three touchdowns on the ground for the River Hawks, with Eli Rex making two touchdown receptions. Brice Ballew and Kalman Dolgos each catch a touchdown reception. Gabe Mayen was 6-for-7 on point-afters. Brady Ellsworth made 11 tackles, while Bobby Bridges made 10 and forced a fumble. Chase made nine tackles and a sack. Chase Antinore had a rushing touchdown and recorded a touchdown pass as well for Notre Dame Batavia, while also returning an interception for a touchdown. Finn Davies caught a touchdown pass. Mackoy Hall and Roy Ricks led the Fighting Irish with 6.5 tackles, while Parker Moore had six and a fumble recovery. Ja’lon Richardson made four tackles and caused a fumble, while Max Valle recovered a fumble.

Liam Campbell caught four balls for 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns for 20 and 15 yards to lead York/Pavilion. Yeriel Dias Pena rushed for 64 yards including a 37-yard scamper to the end zone. Dias Pena also made five receptions for 81 and two more scores. Parker Bonafede completed 10-of-11 passes for 166 and the four touchdowns. Bonafede also rushed the ball six times for 37 yards and a score. On the defensive side, Kasey Coffey recorded four tackles and a sack. Aiden Kobylanski made four tackles as well plus a sack. Jaylin McFadden made three tackles and also sack. Trent Englert made seven tackles. Campbell made 10 tackles and forced a fumble. Javen Jackson also ran for 48 yards. Senior running back Robert Villano had the lone touchdown for Oakfield-Alabama/Elba on three carries and one reception for 57 total yards. Junior wide receiver Brady Werth caught two balls for 36 receiving yards. Ty Reilly led the defensive unit with 11 tackles and one for loss. Dominic West recorded eight tackles and Kyle Wight contributed five tackles including one for loss.

Ben Bookmiller completed 10-of-15 for 181 yards and five touchdowns to five different receivers to lead Lyons/Sodus. Bookmiller connected with JJ Johnson a 43-yard touchdown, with Contrelle Parker on a 49-yard strike, Austin Rice on a 56-yard passing play and Jah Jah Smith on a 33-yard play. Parker also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Connor Pullen rushed for 46 yards and a score.

ST. MARY’S (Monsignor Martin) 30

Zyaire Banks-Brown totaled 108 yards on the ground, caught a pass for 50 yards, and produced a 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and added another touchdown on the ground for Finney. Banks-Brown also recorded 12 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Quarterback Aaron Farrelly completed six passes for 50 yards and carried the ball 10 times for 37 yards. Tight end Jackson Shellman caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from running back Trey Bradley. Jonah Flow also added 22 yards on the ground. Dylan Corriea (10), Jonah Flow (9), Brendan Hurley (8), Parker Phillips (6), Trey Bradley (6), Aaron Farrelly (6), Jackson Shellman (5), Kevin Dana (4), Marcus Hamner (3), Ben Tang (2), and Noah Russell (1) all recorded tackles. Dana also recorded an interception, Phillips recorded two sacks, and Hurley recorded a sack.

Gianni Trunzo-Velazquez scored two rushing touchdowns and connected with Ben Budgar on a touchdown pass as the Geneva Panthers won their second game of their last three. Travis Tolbert Jr. rushed for a touchdown and a two-point conversion as part of a 131-yard effort. Amari Jamison-Kennedy made four tackles including 2.5 for a loss, while notching two sacks. Jeffrey Castro-Anderson made four tackles including 1.5 for a loss, earning a sack and a forced fumble. Prodigy Irvin led the Panthers defensively with eight tackles. Ezra Hurd (5 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss) and Angel Colon (3, including two for a loss) each had a sack.

A late touchdown by Greyson Hathway kept the Penn Yan/Dundee Scottish Mustangs perfect. It was one of two touchdowns on the night for Hathaway, while Brighton Grant also rushed for two touchdowns. Newark had earlier taken a 20-14 lead with 20 points in the third quarter. Carter Graser had a hand in all four of Newark’s. The senior quarterback threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another. Jykell Rodriguez had two touchdown receptions, with Ki’marion Woolfolk catching the other.

Aldric Smith-Fee scored the lone touchdown for Red Jacket on a 3-yard touchdown. Smith-Fee totaled 60 yards on the ground. Wide receiver Barrett Wetherbee caught three passes for 46 receiving yards as well as an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Derrick House also had an interception.
