PENFIELD, N.Y. — Sophia Picardo and Ryleigh Denning scored back-to-back goals during a five-minute stretch late in the second half as Kendall girls’ soccer pulled away to defeat host C.G. Finney, 3-0 on Monday.
Picardo stepped in front of a clearing attempt and connected from 20 yards out for her 10th goal of the season. Denning, who gave the Eagles a 1-nil lead in the first half, converted off a corner kick for her team-leading 13th marker.
The win capped an unbeaten month of September and was the ninth straight for Kendall (10-1-0), ranked No. 20 NYSSWA Class C.
“We’re going into the month of October with the right mindset,” said third-year head coach Angel Rosario. “These girls are very dedicated and hard-working which makes it easier for this coaching staff. They’re all coachable players, all players that any coach would love.”
Last week, Kendall avenged its loss to Byron-Bergen in the 2024 Section Class C2 final with a 2-1 win. That goal was the only score Kendall has allowed during its current nine-game winning streak.

Brooke Rodas made eight saves for the clean sheet on Monday but was truly tested on only one of those opportunities. Rosario credited his backline of Brynn Hardenbrook, Stella Kwiatek and Addison Kludt for limiting Finney’s scoring opportunities.
“They’ve been playing defense on varsity together for a couple years. They play all year around together. They’ve built this chemistry that makes it easier coming into the season to connect and click.”
Picardo also had an assist in the win. Jersie Drake and Olivia Sawyer accounted for an assist apiece.
Finney (6-1-0) came into the game having outscored its opponents by a combined total of 25-0.
“We knew this was going to be a tough game,” said Finney head coach Shauna Frederickson. “We wanted this test. One of our goals is to get back to the sectional finals. A game like this prepares us for that.”
Finney hosts Rochester Prep on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. start.
Kendall welcomes Wheatland-Chili on Wednesday for 7 p.m. kickoff.
The same two teams will meet on Thursday, October 9th at Kendall.
