Former Bishop Kearney standout and center Thomas Bryant has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Bryant makes the move after finishing last season as a key bench player on an Indiana Pacers team that was a game away from winning the NBA Finals. This is the sixth team Bryant will play for as he enters his ninth season in the association.
The Indiana University product paired 6.9 PPG with 3.9 RPG in 15.1 MPG across 56 games with the Pacers last season. In the 2025 playoffs, Bryant scored a playoff-high 11 points off the bench in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and had an electric sequence in the second half of that game that helped Indiana punch its ticket to the NBA Finals.
Bryant was not the only former Section V player who played in the NBA last season. Isaiah Stewart (McQuaid) was a member of the Detroit Pistons and finished the regular season averaging 6.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 1.7 APG. Jalen Pickett (Aquinas) played for Denver, and produced 4.1 PPG, 2.2 APG, and 1.4 RPG in a season that saw him register his first career triple double. Jeenathan “Nate” Williams (UPrep) averaged 3.3 points per game the Houston Rockets.
