PENFIELD, N.Y. — Less than 24 hours after taking a decision from a league foe, Kendall boys’ soccer was back at it again Friday afternoon.
The Eagles looked none worse for the wear.
Pablo Rosario-Reyes scored twice, and Kendall (8-0-0) registered a seventh straight shutout in a 3-nil win over host C.G. Finney in non-league action.
“That’s a big win,” said Eagles’ head coach Rich Esposito. “They’ve got a solid team. Testament to our boys shutting them down.”
Rosario-Reyes staked Kendall to a one-goal lead in the first half. The senior midfielder converted on a set piece less than five minutes into the second to complete his brace.
“Pablo usually comes through when you need one,” Esposito said. “He’s a big playmaker.”
Rosario-Reyes weaved his way through the Finney defense for the 1-nil lead. He connected on a free kick from 20 yards when his shot from the right side glanced off the near post and bounced on the goal line before striking the inside of the opposite post.
The goals were his eighth and ninth of the season.
“Everybody knows what he’s capable of,” Esposito said. “Everybody tries to mark him. They do a good job, but with his skills at some point he’s going to make you pay.”

Johnny Conte made 10 saves for the clean sheet. With a backline that includes Jonas Rhodes and Vinnie D’Agostino, the Eagles were able to limit Finney’s opportunities.
“We kept things to the outside,” Esposito said mentioning an emphasis on Finney’s Nick Fantauzzo. “We were trying to keep them outside and not let make crosses and get chances.”
The Falcons (4-1-1) came into the contest averaging six goals per game.
“They’re physically imposing,” Finney head coach Stephen Merritt said of Kendall. “They run through every ball. They got some ball winners. If the ball’s in the air, they’re going to hunt it down.”
On Friday night, Kendall (No. 10 NYSSWA Class C) outlasted Byron-Bergen/Elba (No. 18 NYSSWA Class C), 1-0.
“Today, I figured these guys were going to be gassed, but they came through,” Esposito said. “Coming out and doing what they did today was big.”
Johnny Esposito capped the scoring in the 80th minute. Rosario-Reyes assisted on the goal.

The same two teams will meet on Tuesday, October 14th at Kendall.
The Eagles host Wheatland-Chili in a Genesee Region matchup on Monday.
Finney travels to Sodus for a non-league matchup on Monday.
Kendall won its first sectional title in 26 when the Eagles defeated Genesee Valley-Belfast in the 2024 Class C2 title game.
