Weekend football Wrap: McEntire and Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry finish strong; Barr leads Irondequoit with four touchdowns

Jon Roessel caught two touchdowns on offense and made two interceptions on defense as the Red Raiders opened their season with an inter-sectional win. Sam Roselli completed 11-of-15 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Sullivan led the defense with three-and-a-half sacks as well as a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. Running backs Dan Roessel and James Kester rushed for 105 and 65 yards, respectively, and both found the endzone once.

BRIGHTON (1-0) 30
Justin Medina starred on all three fronts for the Brighton Bruins, returning the opening kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown before later scoring a rushing touchdown and making five tackles, including two for a loss, on defense. Ethan Bialaszewski threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Matthew Heininger made 10 tackles on the night, while making two receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown. Patrick Rohr used his hands on both ends of the ball, racking up a receiving touchdown and an interception while tallying up 100 total yards. Zach Rossignol ran for 28 yards and made three tackles and a fumble recovery. Charles Messina (6) and Zahmar Tookes (5) also recorded tackles. Patrick Newcomer hit three extra points as well as a 32-yard field goal. MJ Walls led the Thomas offense with two touchdowns on the ground, while also making two tackles defensively. Colin Revello pulled down an interception for the Titans, while Max Trovato had two tackles.

Josh Barr scored four touchdowns- three receiving and one rushing- to help Irondequoit open the season with a win. Eric Torres threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Thore (8), Landon Bryan (7), and Myles Kedley (6) led the Eagles in tackles as part of a defensive performance that held Wilson to 44 total yards. The Eagles finished the night with five sacks.

Jackson Childs passed for 230 yards and a touchdown for Greece Arcadia, while Drake Sapp caught seven passes for 100 yards and was on the receiving end of the touchdown. Jacob Coumbe led the Titans defensively, making five tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a defensive touchdown. Mike Ayala added a sack.

Amari Marianetti-Smith rushed 102 yards and three touchdowns as Spencerport scored 36 unanswered points to erase an early deficit. Marianetti-Smith scored on runs of 9, 22 and again on 9 yards to lead the Rangers. Trailing 7-6, Cole Ciao hit Dom Sprague for a 12-yard touchdown reception. Following a two-point conversion from Kendall Brinson, Spenecerport had a lead it did not surrender at 14-7. Jmari Dyson capped the offensive output with a three-yard run. Zechariah Blair opened the scoring on a nine-yard rushing touchdown. Blair finished with 78 yards on six carries. Brinson had 67 yards on five carries. Marianetti-Smith also made one reception for 26 yards. Sam Priester led the Spencerport defense with 11 tackles. Andre Martinez had nine tackles and Sammy Hopkins, eight. Richie Santos had four tackles and an interception. Marlon Tillman scored on a 55-yard run to give Olympia/Odyssey a 7-6 lead after one quarter of play.

Maggio Buchholz scored two rushing touchdowns and racked up 102 yards as Batavia opened its season with a win. The Blue Devils used a 21-point run in the opening minutes of the third quarter to pull ahead. Buchholz also had 29 yards receiving and made 13 tackles on defense. Quarterback Will Stevens completed four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, including a 60-yard strike to Tre Shine. Nolan Ball rushed for 78 yards. Defensively, Lakoda Mruczek had two interceptions brought back for touchdowns and also recorded eight tackles and a sack. Shine (9), Luke Gutman (7), and Karvel Martino (6) also made tackles. Nate Meacham led Honeoye Falls-Lima with a 19-for-29 passing night, including 198 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Evan Blye threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns to lead Avon on an offensive attack that saw the River Hawks rack up 435 yards of offense. Kal Dolgos had five catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns and also ran in a score, while Eli Rex gained 57 yards receiving and found the endzone as well. James Chase led the team in rushing with 126 yards. Defensively, Blayden Borsching led the way with nine solo tackles and three assists, and also forced a fumble. Bob Bridges put five solo tackles and three assists in the book, while James Chase made five solo tackles, an assisted tackle, and a fumble recovery.

Justice Allen returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown and later caught a touchdown pass from Robbie Dettman as ER/Gananda opened the season with a victory. A two-yard touchdown run from Ray Allen in the second quarter put ER/Gananda up for good, breaking what at the time was a 7-7 tie. Justice Allen finished the night with 43 yards receiving and a tackle on defense.

Two scores in the second half helped Le Roy/Caledonia-Mumford to a season-opening victory, paced by 79 passing yards and a touchdown as well as 35 rushing yards from Brady McClurg. Cameron Riggi rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown and also led the Raiders with seven tackles. Dillon Alcott earned 25 yards receiving and made six tackles while also blocking a punt. Connor Elmore rushed for a touchdown and tallied four tackles. Jude Christ rushed for 28 yards. Donovan Gaillard gained 55 yards receiving and scored a touchdown. Colton Halladay (6), Joey Reschke (5), Trent Kessler (4, with an interception), and Carter Page (4, with a sack) also put their names down in the tackle column. Ray Allen had 32 yards rushing and made four tackles, including one for a loss. Dettman finished the night with 51 yards passing and 23 rushing. Owen Munding led the Bombers with 83 yards rushing and also made three tackles. Bryce Panzarella led the defense with five tackles, while Andrew Newman, Matthew Witkowski, Tyler Leisten, and Nicholas Falso all had four.

Zach Gardiner rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown for Livonia, while Jack Ackerman scored a two-point conversion. Jake Benitez rushed for 53 yards and made two receptions for 16 yards while also tallying an interception. Andy Crilly (29), Seth Eadie (25), and Jack Henry (8) also earned rushing yards, with Henry also throwing for 20 yards in the air. Eadie and Jack Ackerman led the Bulldogs in tackles, with five each, including one for a loss for both. Brandon Shantz made a sack.

Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton scored all 20 of its points in the opening half behind touchdown rushes from Brady Henchen, Clayton Rigdon, and Dawson Stephens. Ethan Bauer led the team in rushing, with 60 yards, and also made six tackles. Rigdon had four-and-a-half tackles and an interception, while Henchen made five tackles. Ryan Frazier tallied six tackles including one for a loss. Kameren Lantz made three-and-a-half tackles, including two for losses.

Ben Bookmiller had a 10-for-19 night of passing, tallying 198 yards and two touchdowns as Lyons took the season-opening win. Connor Pullen scored a touchdown on the ground, while Jay’zyree Smith had 113 receiving yards with two touchdowns. Austin Rice returned an interception for a 95-yard touchdown on defense.

Quarterback Carter Graser threw for two touchdowns as part of a 196 yard night to lead Newark/Marion to a season-opening victory. Ki’marion Woolfolk gained 109 yards receiving with a touchdown, while Darrien Streeter had an 88-yard receiving touchdown. Terrell Jenkins scored a touchdown on the ground. Midlakes made its lone score on a touchdown pass from Nathan Lathrop to Finn Damann. Lathrop ultimately finished the night 126 yards passing, while Damann had 75 receiving. Trey Martin rushed for 132 yards.

Brody Putsateri threw for 128 passing yards and a touchdown through the air and ran for an additional 58 with a touchdown on the ground to lead the Pittsford Panthers. Jesse Jablonsky racked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Dayshawn Preston threw for a touchdown and made an interception, while Ryan Munzinger also snagged an interception. Jax Bernas made seven tackles as well as a sack. The game was the annual Teddi Bowl to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times.

Jeffery Logan III rushed for 305 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries to lead Aquinas. The senior running back scored four times in the first half when the Li’l Irish jumped out to a 33-0 lead. Robert Carter accounted for 57 yards and one score on three carries. C.J. Flaherty led the defense with seven tackles including two for a loss and one interception. Amere Brewer had four tackles and two pass break-ups. Frankie Burgess accounted for five tackles and one blocked kick.

Jameer Walters had two receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown. Thomas Levans III made three grabs for 36 yards. Briyceton Thomas led the UPrep defense with 10 tackles and one interception. Miller accounted five tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Ajay Cotton had six tackles. Jameer Walters and Cashmere Williams made four tackles apiece.

Terrell “Pooty” Cunningham completed 13-of-15 passes for 287 and six touchdowns while running for another score to lead Monroe. Cunningham connected twice for scores with teammate Messiah Hampton who finished with five receptions for 131 yards. Ray Garcia had three catches for 55 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brien Walker added a touchdown. Anthony Omebe scored once, and on the defensive side accounted for seven tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles. Jermaine Montgomery led the defense with 12 tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery that he returned for a 12-yard touchdown. Ziere McKnight returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown to go with seven tackles and two sacks.

Jake McEntire finished with 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry. McEntire broke a scoreless tie with a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry rattled off 15 unanswered points. McEntire later found the end zone on a four-yard rush and connected with Brayden Merritt for a two-point conversion. Facing a first and goal from its own two-yard line, the L/W/P defense stopped Notre Dame-Batavia/Byron-Bergen to hold the lead. Merritt led the defense with seven tackles and a fumble recovery. McEntire had five tackles. Mason Sundt finished with two sacks, and Brayden Schroeder had a fumble recovery. Logan Gath rushed for 48 yards on nine carries. Maddox Kelly threw for 47 yards.

MARCUS WHITMAN/BLOOMFIELD (1-0) 34

After forcing a turnover on downs at midfield to open the game, the Marcus Whitman/Bloomfield offense took over and immediately found success, leading up to senior back Gunner Vogel taking a handoff 21 yards for a touchdown. The Wildcat defense followed it up by forcing a fumble and setting the offense on the two-yard line, which led to an Adien Kelley touchdown carry. READ MORE.

Aldric Smith-Fee rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns as Red Jacket scored on its first possession and did not surrender the lead. Smith-Fee found the end zone on runs of 13, 5 and 15 yards to pace the Cardinals’ offense. Jacob Brown also scored on a one-yard rush. Edward Poinam topped the defense with six tackles. Jason Hutson added five tackles while Barrett Wetherbee had four.
