Cameron Barbulean led Pittsford-Mendon baseball to its first state title in program history. The New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA) honored the left-hander as the Class A Co-Player of the Year.
Barbulean finished with a record of 7-2 on the mound and logged an ERA of 1.60. He struck out 98 and walked 21 over 57 innings of work. The Clarkson University commit finished with a .438 batting average and on-base percentage of .476.
Teammate, Colden Forney joined Barbulean on the NYSSWA Class A First Team. Forney, who is committed to play at Fordham University, drove in 22 runs with a .368 batting average and on-base percentage of .429.
Eastridge’s Evan Bishop (Second Team) along with Pittsford Sutherland’s Aidan Kress (Third Team) and Batavia’s Bronx Buchholz (Fourth Team) also earned spots on the Class A Team.

First Team selections Derrick Allen (Greece Athena) and Jack Kelly (Webster Schroeder) headed 12 Section V student-athletes who were named to the Class AA team. Allen went 5-1 with 60 strikeouts over 46 innings. The Niagara County Community College commit finished with a .471 batting average and a .662 slugging percentage in leading Athena to a top seed in Class AA. Allen and Barbulean shared Monroe County Division Player of the Year honors.
Kelly struck out 44 against 15 walks over 31.2 innings of work. He went 2-1 with an ERA of 2.00 The St. Bonaventure commit hit .436 with a .508 on-base percentage.

Churchville-Chili’s Aaron Reina and Jake DiCicco (Webster Thomas) were named to NYSSWA Second Team.
Reina, the Monroe County Division II Player of the Year, hit .550 with an on-base percentage of .582 and an OPS of 1.332. The Saints’ shortstop and Monroe Community College commit drove in 21 runs and scored 14 times.

DiCicco, who earned Class AA Tournament MVP, went 7-1 with an ERA of 1.85 over 10 starts. The Wilkes University commit struck out 33 and walked 16 over 53 innings of work.

Victor’s John Swartz was named to the Third Team. Sammy Saucke (Greece Athena) and Brayden Scaccia (Brockport) earned Fourth Team honors while AJ LaLoggia (Webster Thomas) and Nick Kriegelstein (Victor) received Fifth Team selections. Churchville-Chili’s Marcus Roney was named to the Fifth Team. Joey Baller (Webster Thomas) and Wesley Sturrup (Brighton) earned Sixth Team nods.
NYSSWA ALL-STATE SELECTIONS.
McQuaid’s Cole Englert was named to the NYSSWA Class AAA Second Team while Sam Roselli (Fairport) earned a Fourth Team selection and Caden Richards was named to the Fifth Team.
Englert earned tournament MVP in helping McQuaid to its 10th sectional title in program history. The senior finished 7-3 with one save in 13 appearances on the mound.

Wayland-Cohocton’s Ethan Loop was named to the Class B First Team. Loop hit .329 all while throwing out 19 of 24 baserunners and picking off another seven from behind home plate. The junior started all 22 games at catcher and finished with a .982 fielding percentage. A four-year varsity performer, Loop is a three-time Livingston County Athletic Association Division I First Team selection.

Le Roy’s Alex Spezzano and Wellsville’s Tyler Vogel were named to the NYSSWA Class B Second Team. Alan Plummer (Mynderse) was named to the Third Team while Wayland-Cohocton’s Matt Clark earned a Fourth Team selection and Livonia’s Brady O’Keefe was named to the Fifth Team.

Sodus Spartan Evan Laird garnered First Team Class C honors. Laird hit .700 on the season with a .764 on-base percentage. The junior went 4-0 with an ERA 0.95 over 54 innings of work.
Genesee Valley-Belfast teammates Ryan Daciw and Ethan Davenport were named to the NYSSWA Class C Second Team along with Landon Barkley (Bolivar-Richburg), Colby Hughes (Kendall) and Henry Shutts (Gananda).

Geneseo’s Luke Davis and Kendall’s Gavin Braun were named to the Class C Third Team while Cooper Warner (Geneseo) and Kyle Dredger (Bloomfield) earned spots on the Fourth Team. Max Siewert (Perry) and Landen Stoddard (Pavilion/York) were named to the Fifth Team.

Micah Marvin (Arkport-Canaseraga), Damon Potter (Fillmore), Devin Stamets (Avoca-Prattsburgh) and Da’Vonn Stevens (Northstar Christian) each earned First Team Class D honors.
Marvin, a junior, struck out 90 and posted an ERA of 0.00. The Section V Class D Player of the Year fanned 14 and hurled a seven-inning no-hitter in a win over Avoca-Prattsburgh and had two more games with 13 or more strike outs.

Potter struck out 72 and posted an ERA of 2.52 over 52.2 innings pitched in leading Fillmore to its state semifinal appearance in program history. Stamets hit .393 with an on-base percentage of .534. The sophomore scored 22 runs. Stevens, a Cedarville University commit, was named Private-Parochial League Player of the Year.
Aiden Upright (Keshequa) and Colton Calladine (Andover/Whitesville) were named to the NYSSWA Class D Second Team while Ollie Bruen (Naples) and Nick Scott (Elba) earned Third Team honors.
