Greece Post 468 opens Northeast Regional against Cumberland Post 14

Making its third appearance in four years, Greece Post 468 will open American Legion Northeast Regional action on Wednesday, August 6, against Cumberland Post 14 (Rhode Island) at Fitton Field, home of the Holy Cross Crusaders in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

The double-elimination tournament continues on Thursday with the championship scheduled for Sunday, August 10.

Greece (20-5) is one of eight teams to reach the Northeast Regional championship which also includes Waterford Post 161 (CT), Farmington Post 28 (ME), Fall River Post 464 (MA), Bedford Post 54 (NH), St. Johnsbury Post 58 (VT) along with Cumberland and the host Shrewsbury Post 397 (MA).

The winner advances to the American Legion World Series, August 14-19 at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, North Carolina.

Greece Post erased a five-run deficit to defeat Hamburg Post 527 in the NYS championship. Derrick Allen garnered Tournament MVP.

Greece Post last reached regionals in 2023 when the local squad advanced to the semifinals.

Derrick Allen finished 3-for-3 including a solo home run to spark a three-run sixth inning, and Greece Post 468 went on to beat Hamburg 527, 6-5 to claim the 2025 NYS American Legion Senior tournament championship on Wednesday, July 30.
