Tuesday American Legion Wrap: Miner’s seventh inning heroics lift Chili; Ciccone walks it off for Ely Fagan

Down 7-6 in the top of the seventh, Josh Miner hit a two-run single which drove in Alex Spezzano and Marcus Roney to give Chili Post a lead it did not give up the rest of the way for its sixth straight victory. Miner finished with two hits on the day while Spezzano accounted for two runs and two RBI-singles. Aaron Reina crossed home plate three times and went 3-for-4 with a single in the first and fifth innings and an RBI-single in the third. Bobby Rule Jr. also ended 3-4 with two runs while Parker Farnham singled, driving in two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at six apiece. Marcus Roney singled in the seventh. Will Sheible struck out three and allowed one run on three hits with three walks through 2.1 innings to earn the win on the mound while Rule Jr struck out one and allowed no runs or hits in the seventh inning to earn the save. For Rayson Miller Post, Ryan Munzinger led the way with two hits, a run and an RBI while Thomas O’Reilly tripled, driving in two runs and crossed home plate once during a six-run fourth inning. Jack Edelstein collected a hit and two runs while Max Vorrasi, Owen Osborne and Paul Byrne added a hit and a run apiece. Grady Hopkin notched a hit and a sacrifice bunt while Jimmy Cook hit an RBI-single. CJ Wheaton drove in a run as well.

ELY FAGAN POST 1151 (5-5-1) 3

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Ryan Ciccone walked it off with an RBI-single that drove Jacob Sova in for the game-winning run to lift Ely Fagan Post. Sova singled to get on base. Matt Gross allowed two runs on three hits with four strikeouts over seven innings to earn the win on the mound. Jake Militello led the way with two hits while Joel Thomas followed with a single and a run. Landon Brown tallied a hit while Austin Yageric crossed home plate once. For Irondequoit Post, Michael Crandall went 2-for-3 with a run to lead the way while Evan Bishop hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to tie the game at two apiece. Peyton Kispert added a run as well.

JAMES COOKE POST 931 (5-3) 2

Down 2-1 in the sixth inning, Brady Beganny and Jacob Natale hit back-to-back RBI-singles to take a one-run lead Braman Post kept the rest of the way to snap a four-game losing streak. Beganny led the way with two hits while Natale finished with two RBI. Matt Riddell and Jackson Giancursio both collected a hit and a run while Ashton Allen singled. Jacob Murray crossed home plate once. Alan Plummer struck out eight and allowed two runs on three hits with three walks over six innings to notch the win on the mound while Brady Parker struck out two while allowing one hit and one walk in one inning of relief to pick up the save. For James Cooke Post, Nick Kriegelstein went 2-for-2 and crossed home plate once while Grady Rogers finished 2-3 with one run. John Swartz singled while Matty Eygabroad and Chris Swackhamer drove in a run each.

Aaron Reina finished 2-for-4 including an RBI double in the first when Chili Post scored twice on the way to a 4-0 lead and its fifth straight win. Jamie Derleth doubled to lead the second when Chili added two more runs. Bobby Rule, Jr. went 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored in the win. Marcus Roney was 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Lucas Karelus allowed one run on three hits and two walks over five innings to pick up the win. Karelus struck out seven. Karelus also singled and scored. Alex Spezzano walked, drove in a run and scored. Andrew McManus doubled and scored. Parker Farnham accounted for an RBI and a run scored. Irondequoit’s Curtis Welker was 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Max Angle, Brayden Delly and Thanny Jones each singled and drove in a run. Angle also walked twice and scored a run. Connor Welker singled and scored. Jeremy Coon scored once.
