Sunday American Legion Wrap: Rene and Cottreall-Warner Post stay hot; Vorrasi leads Rayson Miller

Nick Rene went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored while Sam Nick finished 2-4 with three RBI, and Cottreall-Warner Post won for the third time in four games. Rene’s 15 hits leads District 7. A two-run double from Nick in the first inning put Cottreall-Warner Post on top early. They added three more runs in the second inning on an RBI double from Rene and an RBI groundout from Nick. Rene also hurled five scoreless innings on the mound, allowing just one hit and three walks, while striking out six. Connor Smith threw two scoreless innings in relief of Rene, allowing no hits. Mikey Crandall had the lone hit for Irondequoit Post.

Max Vorrasi went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Jimmy Cook went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead Rayson Miller. A first inning RBI triple from Vorrasi followed by an RBI single from Cook put two runs on the board for Rayson Miller Post. Paul Byrne threw three scoreless innings on the mound for Rayson Miller Post, allowing one hit and three walks, while striking out six. Sam Byrne threw three innings in relief, allowing one unearned run. Jimmy Randisi picked up the save, striking out one in a perfect seventh inning. Colin Bates pitched the full six innings for Ferris Goodridge Post, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while walking none and striking out six. Jaeden Ford and Brody Ignizio had a hit apiece.
