Five seniors ended their varsity careers with Player of the Year honors. Three juniors also garnered the honor. Elizabeth Gleghorn (Rush-Henrietta), Liana DeValder (Webster Schroeder), Gabrielle Lyons (Pittsford Sutherland), Kaili Witherell (Haverling), Jessie Crye (Avon), Ashlyn Wright (Bloomfield), Hannah Powers (Genesee Valley/Belfast), Morgan Ross (Fillmore) were all honored by Section V Coaches for their regular season efforts.
Gleghorn (Rush-Henrietta) batted .500 with nine home runs, 21 extra-base hits and 40 RBI to earn her second Player of the Year award. The senior only struck out three times in 84 plate appearances with a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate.
Gleghorn’s best performance came on April 24, when she finished with five hits including a homer to go alongside six RBI.
DeValder (Webster Schroeder) finished her senior season with an 18-1 record including a .45 ERA while batting .470 with seven homers, five doubles and 22 RBI. The senior stuck out 187 batters and recorded 10 shutouts.
DeValder ended her varsity career with a 49-7 record and 646 strikeouts in three years alongside a 1.06 ERA and three Monroe County Player of the Year awards. Her best outing came on April 30, where she hurled a 52 pitch perfect game against Fairport and went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored.
Lyons (Pittsford Sutherland) ended her junior campaign batting .560 with four homers, five triples and eight doubles. She drove in 39 while scoring 43. The junior stuck out only five times.
Witherell (Haverling) won her second Player of the Year honor batting .532 with one homer, three triples and six doubles and also recorded 16 RBI and 26 runs scored. The senior only stuck out four times throughout her season. In the circle, she went 20-2 with a .64 ERA and 252 strikeouts. Of her 22 starts, 19 were complete game efforts including six shutouts and two no-hitters.
Witherell finished her varsity career batting a program record .502 while also leading in hits (161), triples (16) and runs scored (122). In the circle, she ended with a 50-7 record and a .50 ERA alongside a program record 1,108 career strikeouts. The senior also garnered the Gatorade New York Softball Player of the Year award for the 2025 season.
Crye (Avon) earned her second Player of the Year honor batting .520 with three home runs and 10 extra base hits (five doubles, five triples). She drove in 26 and scored 21 runs, striking out only one time this season. The junior also finished with a 15-4 record alongside a .66 ERA and 263 strikeouts.
Crye has struck out 923 batters and earned the school record for career strikeouts surpassing her sister, Joleigh Crye.
Ross (Fillmore) finished her junior campaign batting .643 with four home runs, seven triples and 12 doubles. She drove in 51 while adding 46 runs scored. The junior also racked up 34 stolen bases with just two strikeouts at the plate. Ross finished her season with a .997 fielding percentage with 10 runners caught stealing.
In her season opener against Friendship/Scio, Ross finished 5-for-5 including two triples, three RBI and four runs scored. Ross also recorded single season program records for runs, RBI, doubles, triples, stolen bases, and total bases (83). The junior has 150 career hits entering her final varsity season.
