Hopkins leads Avoca-Prattsburgh to Mudville championship

Tournament MVP Payton Hopkins finished 3-for-6 with an RBI as Avoca-Prattsburgh (12-1) breezed to a 24-0 win over Clinton (III) in the championship round at Mudville. Hopkins scored twice in the first inning when the Titans pushed across 13 runs in the opening frame.

Teammate Meyah Putnam started, hurled two scoreless innings and went 2-3 with an RBI. Charlotte Peck drove in a run and was 4-5. Alydia McIntyre had three RBI as part of a 3-5 effort at the plate. Brooke Vanskiver brought in four runs with five hits in six at-bats. Elise Harrell accounted for three RBI.

Putnam struck out six of the seven batters she faced in the championship game. McIntyre fanned four in three innings of relief work.

Hopkins struck out five while issuing two walks over five innings in a 15-1 win over Stockbridge Valley (III) in the tournament opener. Hopkins singled and drove in two runs in the Game 1 win.

Putnam was 3-3 with two RBI. Charlotte Peck and Brooke Vanskiver both singled and drove in a run. McIntyre went 2-4 with three RBI.

A-P has won six straight games.
