Fifteen schools, 10 games and one cause: Eastridge and Honeoye Falls-Lima high schools will be the hosts as the 2nd Annual Strikeout ALS fundraiser takes place Saturday, May 4th.
First pitch for both sites will be at 10 a.m. with Eastridge hosting both softball and baseball while HF-L has four baseball games.
Three softball games will take place at Eastridge with the host Lancers starting the day against HF-L at 10 a.m. School of the Arts and Padilla will follow at 1 p.m. and Pittsford Mendon will face Pittsford Sutherland at 4 p.m.
Eastridge baseball will host Bishop Kearney at 10 a.m. with Edison and Greece Olympia/Odyssey to follow at 1 p.m. Pittsford Mendon and Pittsford Sutherland will square off at 4 p.m.
School of the Arts and Wilson/Early College will play the first of four baseball games at Honeoye Falls-Lima. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. with Irondequoit and Brockport to follow at 1 p.m., Greece Athena and Greece Arcadia at 4 p.m. and East High will face the host Cougars. A 7 p.m. start is scheduled for the day’s finale.
The event will honor Joe LaPietra, a longtime Athletic Director in the Rochester City who was diagnosed with ALS (commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). LaPietra has continued working but is now limited to a wheelchair and requires the help of his family. Joe will be making stops at both sites during the course of the day.
A $5 donation is requested from spectators who attend the event. Money raised will go to support families in Western and Central New York impacted by ALS.
