A late comeback led Greece Athena to its second win in as many days. After being shut out for the first five innings and trailing 3-0, the Trojans scored two in the bottom of the sixth when Gio Stewart drove in Jacob Sova with a triple and then scored on Thomas Rankin’s sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the seventh, the Trojans completed the comeback when Sova knocked in the tying run with a ground out and Sammy Saucke then scored on a passed ball to walk it off. Derrick Allen started on the mound and pitched five innings, allowing three unearned runs with six strikeouts. Parker Goodness threw the final two innings, earning the win. Ryan Ciccone singled and scored in the win. Saucke finished 2-for-3 with a walk. McQuaid’s Connor Forkey finished 2-for-2 on the day including a leadoff double to spark two-run second. Jason Larsen drove in Forkey and later scored when Paul Rizzo reached on a fielder’s choice. Thomas Bailey reached on a dropped third to start the fourth and eventually scored on a Zach Craib RBI groundout. William McCarthy also had a hit.

Owen Zimmer finished 4-for-4 with two RBI while AJ LaLoggia and Nate Caracci added two hits apiece to lead Webster Thomas in a game that was played at UPMC Park in Erie, Pa. – the home of the Detroit Tigers’ Double-A affiliate, Seawolves. . Caracci drove in two runs. Drew Rosa had a hit and two RBI. Tyler Estelle, Joey Baller and Jacob Schoen each had a hit. Parker Carley drove in a run. Jake Dicicco, Connor Smith and Max Seaver combined on the mound for for nine strike outs and one walk. The trio allowed six hits. Jameson Motyka led the Batavia offense going 3-3 with an RBI. Carter Mullen went 2-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. Brady Mazur and Bronx Buchholz both had a hit.

An 8-run third inning propelled Pembroke to its third straight victory to begin the season. After Jayden Bridge produced an RBI single in the first to get the Dragons started, every Pembroke hitter came to the plate in the third as Kylan Ball and Austin Humphrey produced two-run doubles. The other four runs scored via a combination of bases loaded walks and errors by Barker. Caleb Felski and Trey Newton each added an RBI for the Dragons. Bridge also started the game on the mound, allowing one run over 3.1 innings with seven strikeouts earning the win. Humphrey accounted for two RBI and two runs scored in the win. Landen Santini finished 2-for-4 with a walk and four runs scored out of Pembroke’s leadoff spot. Anthony Abbatiello went 2-4 with a double, walk and a run scored. Jayden Bridge singled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored once. Hayden Williams singled and scored twice.

Genesee Valley Belfast earned its fourth straight win to begin the year by no-hitting Jasper- Troupsburg. Ben Cater started and went four innings with seven strikeouts, earning the win. Mason Thomas threw the final inning, striking out the side and finishing off the no-no. Ryan Daciw led the way on offense with two doubles and three runs, Ethan Davenport doubled and had five stolen bases on the day. Genesee Valley-Belfast head coach Dennie Miles moved into a tie for the New York State record for most wins by a high school coach at 806. The record is held by Craig Phillips of Fort Plain. GV-B will travel to New York City on Monday for its next game against Eldred of Section IX. Monday’s game will take place at the site of the old Yankee Stadium.
